How do I clean the inlet filter?
When installing the washing machine they said I must let the water run before connecting the pipes in a new appartment- which I did. There was some sand comming out of the pipes and stopped after a while and I proceded to connect the washing machine. Now the water is barely running and I checked the inlet and it was almost completely blocked with sand. How do I now clean this inlet filter?
You can also buy new filters to replace the old inlet filters from Home Depot. They are not LG brand they are "generic" filters but they do work. LG does not supply these filters the only way to get them from LG is to purchase the entire inlet valve (keep in mind you have 2 hot and cold) to obtain these filters. You can call the parts dept 888-393-6484 and get the part numbers for these valves and a distributors phone number so you can purchase the valves from them. Hope this helps.

Re: cloged inlet filter
Basically after switching off the power you would remove the valve. most lg wash/machines have servisable type valves. once in your hand, loosten the 4 screws and carefully seperate the valve coil from the inlet body. carefully remove the diaphram and wash. definately not difficult to do. very logical dismanlling and reassembling.

HI... If u see your backside of your machine there is a inlet valve (water inlet valve) open that water tube and see one small netted filter is there you just remove that filter outside and clear that filter with a tooth brush and insert it again....
The IE or E1 error or fault code indicates that the washer is not filling with water. Check to be sure the water supply valves are open. Also, check to be sure the water supply hoses aren't kinked or clogged. Next, remove the hoses from the washing machine and run water into a bucket to test the pressure and flow of the water. If all of these check out and you have good water pressure and flow to the machine, you should replace the water inlet valve
If you are trying to use the machine manually, there needs to be enough water in the machine to tell the level sensor when to switch off the water inlet solenoid valve. Failing this, the machine will only show IE (Inlet Error) and refuse to work.
Remove power for some time , allow the power to drain off the memory and see if the display is clear. If not hold the start button and switch on power. Check the inlet and drain filter , free water flow, if not remove and clean.
have you done a reset turn off machine by the mains leave off for 10 min's make sure door is open at all times make sure machine on/off button is off and the programmer is set to the off if you havent got a off on the programmar put it on a spin program ok then switch the mains back on turn on the machine on off button then press start then shut the door that is a reset if you still have problems get back to me ok
If you have checked that the hot and cold water taps are turned on fully
and the hoses are not kinked or squashed at the back, it is worth while
checking both the hot and cold water inlet filters. Turn the taps off
and remove both hoses at the washer end. Inside each inlet port there is
normally a little filter which should just slide out. Clean if
necessary and replace each one and the hoses. If after turning the taps
back on there is no improvement, the problem is symptomatic of a
malfunctioning hot or cold water control valve. Sorry but it needs a
service call and a check that it isn't the control PCB
An IE error code will appear if the washer has not filled with water in approximately 8 minutes. If an IE error code appears on the washer, check to make sure both hot and cold-water taps are open completely. After both valves have been opened, unplug the washer for 10 seconds and retry the wash cycle. There are filters on the inlet hose connections of the washing machine. They are intended to filter away mineral deposits from hard water and other debris from getting into the unit. If clogged, water will not flow through these filters into the washer. Turn off both the hot and cold water taps, disconnect the inlet hoses from the back of the washing machine, and clean the inlet filters gently but thoroughly
The water pump can be blocked and thus stop the machine from finishing the wash cycle. In front on the bottom there is as hatch that can be opened with a flat screwdriver, the small black rubber pipe can be used to first drain all the water before the opening the filter. Small objects such as coins coluld be found in here, blocking the pump. Clean the pump by removing these, optionally blowing into the outlet (yuck!), to dislodge anything. If that does not help to fix the problem, you can clean that actual water pump, but this requires you to use a screwdriver to remove the pump.
Tilt the machine on its side, the pump is attached with 3 self-tapping screws. (if you can't figure out what the pump is you should probably let a technician do this). The pump has 2 parts to it, take it apart carefully and clean out all the dirt that has accumulated in there. Plastic friendly, waterproof grease can be applied to the pump spindle and bearing if available.
If the problem still persists a new pump is available from LG at a reasonable cost.
If you have cold water pressure to the machine and the valve filter is clear you probably have a failed cold water inlet valve. Replacing the inlet valve unit should fix the problem....Not unusual. Not a big job........Good luck....Nomess
