I need to know how to reset my password

You can start Windows in safe mode (hit F8 when booting). Once you get the black and white screen, log on as administrator. If there has been no administrator password set (most people forget to do this), then you can reset the password for your account in the control panel--in users.

Please download the ERD Winternal Image from http://www.mininova.org/tor/857048 and burn it in a CD.
Then boot your PC from the CD. Select your Windows Media Edition for which you have forgot password. Without asking for any password you will get into Windows. Then goto control panel->User Accounts->Select the Username[for which u want to change password]. Then use change password option to change password. Then Reboot the PC and remove the CD. Now your windows password will be reset.

Windows XP Passwords

Well, the best way to setup security is through a BIOS password. This bypasses any operating sytem and doesn't allow any user interaction until the password is entered. Also, a user cannot edit anything in the BIOS without a master password.

Most BIOS systems can be entered by pressing delete during the initial startup of the machine.

As for windows XP, the only true security it has is the startup password. Which is setup through the users menu in control panel. You can, however, setup advanced security and disable many abilities of other users using the Administrator account on your operating system.
