Question about GoVideo DV2150 DVD Player/VCR

1 Answer

Bad disk I was playing a movie and half way through the picture froze. I turned the dvd player off then back on and tried again but all it would say was bad disk. Now it won't play anything...all it ever says is bad disk. It is a go video dv2150. The same dvd diabled our playstation and dvd burner too so I know that the player daoesn' need to be cleaner (though I did try that anyways to no avail).

Insert disc. get "loading" signal then "bad disc".,regardless of disc. Clean disc:no joy. removed casing. noted; disc sometimes will not spin unless finger started, then spins at erratic speeds, the part containing the laser that rides on rails jumps back and forth. tried cleaning the lense;no luck. Has only about 150 hours in it. Suspect it is a poorly engineered product.

Have had this model DV2150 for a year or so without a problem until now. Any disc I try results in a BAD DISK message. Tried to use a dvd cleaner and the same thing. Now what?

Inserted a disk. screen says its loading. continues loading but doesnt actually load the disk. sometimes will say BAD DISK and sometimes not. It happened al of a sudden during episode selection while the disk was readable and working fine.

If this disk plays on other sources then it is not the disk and sounds like it is a problem with the laser or the motor that pushes the laser along the disk if it dont play no disk at all then it is the layser if you have used a good quality lense cleaner and that didnt cure it then you could try if you are ok taking the case off leave it for 24 hours to make sure no electric is running through it and look where the laser eye is it should be neer the middle where the center of the cd sits if it isnt gently push it back to the middle this will recalibrate your laser then put it back together and try again if this dont work you will then have to get a replacement laser unit these can be expensive but you should be able to fit it your self as the wire areconected by conector but before you do this make sure you use a good lense cleaner as the cheaper ones wont work all the time and listen if the cd is spinning in the unit if its not spinning then you need replace the unit if you dont feel up to it then a repair shop will do this for you their si no way round it other than to replaceit they usually last the life of the warranty they are made to last no longer hope this is some help but not much more you can do

The problem is in the laser pickup assembly, the stepper motor that moves the laser is sticking on the worm gear or excessive ware on the gear linkage is preventing it from moving.

Dvd stopped playing in the middle of a movie...

I work for Coby technical support. Our customer service phone number is 1-800-727-3592.

Unfortunately, if the player will no longer read any commercial dvd that you attempt to play, the unit is defective and needs to be replaced. Hopefully, since it's brand new, you still have the receipt and can return it to the retailer for an exchange or refund. The unit has a 90 day warranty from the date of purchase. You would need the receipt in order to receive a warranty exchange.

If you feel this solution doesn't deserve a good rating, please let me know why so that I may better assist you. If there is anything more I can do to help, I will!

Incompatible Disc in Sharp BD-HP21X Blu-Ray Disc Player

I had the exact same problem as you did... I bought the Sharp Aquos 42D85X which came with Sharp BD-HP21X Blu-ray Disc player. could not get brand new blu-ray movies to play and i found it froze everytime after 10 secs. I phoned sharp who basically were no help watsoever! I then went and returned my blu-ray movies back to the store thinking it was a problem with the discs.. The people there were extremely nice and since they had a display model of the BD-HP21X instore they offered to test the movie on it to veroify whether it was the blu-ray player was the problem or not. Turns out its a fault with all of the BD-HP21X models. So we then ended up returning it back to the store we bought it and exchanged it with the older model (BD-HP20X). I now have no problems playing blu-ray movies. Although another suggestion is to perhaps download the lastest firmware update & see if that resolves your issues.

Help

sounds like it could be a bad battery or DC input on the player, try getting a replacement battery and see if that fixes the problem, otherwise it could be a bad circuit inside of the DVD Player
