My sister Locked my camera , she cant remember how and now when i try to turn it on the locked sign/picture thing flashes, is there anyway to unlock it, my instuctions dont say anything about even being able to lock it,

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.
there is a child lock on that on,, it might be one button or two just hold it or them in until it unlocks,,, i cant remember which ones they are but they will be marked sometimes with alittle picture of a baby

So I got the same error message a few weeks ago. I bought a card reader and a software program that is supposed to recover lost/deleted/corrupt files but to no avail.
I have tried the SD card on my sister's camera (same Canon powershot) and it doesnt work. I have tried my sister's SD card on my camera and it does work so it is not my camera. It is clearly the SD card with an error.
SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position nearest the contacts enables writing, the opposite position protects or locks it. Try sliding it fully to the locked position and then fully to the unlocked position. If that doesn't work, try a different card.
Memory cards are funny things that can sometimes currupt for various reasons i suggest you just buy a new memory card. Try to retrieve the pictures you can get on your computer before you dispose of the old one.
To fix this, remove the SD card from your camera. Look on the side and you will find a little switch. One end of the switch says locked the other end says unlocked. Move the switch from locked to unlocked. Replace it in your camera and turn it back on.

there will be a small projection at the side of the memory card. push it to its opposite side. this will unlock the card. if not solve try that card in a card reader then use it in camera.
