The screen on my acer 5000 has no brightness. If

got to settings, and under display and brightness settings make sure it is at either full brightness or a level where your screen is not as dark.

If it is very dark so that you cannot see, you may need to do the operation in a dark room or at night under your bed.

If your TV seems to be darker than you think it should be, it is possible that the problem is with the light sensor. The light sensor will automatically adjust the picture brightness based on the ambient light that is in the room, (i.e. if the room is bright the picture will also be bright, if it is dark the picture will also be dark).

To turn this feature off go to Settings > General Setup > Light Sensor.

Are you in a bright room or a dark room when this happens?

try turning up CONTRAST or COLOR or TINT or HUE hope this helped..... how bright is the room is the tv easier to see at night if the sun is hitting the screen that will make a big difference..

You have to go
START > CONTROL PANEL > POWER OPTIONS
and there select [ADJUST] DISPLAY BRIGHTNESS and move to the RIGHT the brightness slider until you will get the desired brightness.

The set may have an ambient light detector - if so then the set up options will allow you to vary the screen brightness - a simple check to find out if this could be the problem would be to display an image during the day then if possible close the blinda and make the room dark - alternatviley do the same at night then switch the room lights on and off and see if the brightness changes.

Take the laptop into a dark room.
If the computer is on, and the screen is "normal" (icons & wallpaper & such) but still quite dim, then the "inverter" component of the LCD screen has failed.

It's about a $20 part to replace, but you should pay a qualified technician for one hour of "labour" to disassemble/replace/reassemble/test it.

If your laptop screen is dark, it could be the backlight,inverter, or bad lcd. You can test the backlight by starting the laptop and give it a few seconds to load and take the laptop in a dark room and shine a flashlight on the lcd and see if you can see any pictures or icons. If you can, you may just need an inverter to correct the issue, If not, you may need to replace the inverter and lcd both.

If you find that you need parts to correct the issue. I would suggest that you begin with replacing the inverter first, as they are usually less expensive.

then,
change the battery setting in the power management options.

set use maximum battery option.
