I really love this TV and would like to get it fixed (somewhere around Montreal) or fix it myself. The other day, I went to fix a cable in the back, I lifted it 1cm off the ledge and put it back down.I turned it on again, the screen was all discoloured so I put the cables back the way they where before but it didn't go away. What do I do?

The several thin white lines at the top of the screen is the warning that the vertical output IC is not getting the boost voltage it needs to run correctly. The IC cannot operate for long like that and shorts out inside, which is when the vertical collapses altogether and you get the thin white line through the center of the screen. The good news for your son is that he had nothing to do with that, and it has nothing to do with the cable F connector. The set needs to be serviced by an experienced tech who will restore the boost supply and replace the vertical output IC, and when I do that I charge $75 but techs in your area will vary, so be sure to ask around.

Your problem is probably the tuner in the back of your tv. I had the same problem. I ordered a new tuner. The model number for it is CF36G40

if you have the remote control number RM-C203 with your tv than try noise muting in your menu settings mine did the same thing i just put noise muting off and it worked for me

a black box is covering my tv screen except for around the edges. I can use the dvd player, but i cannot watch cable. it is as though there is a security feature to block tv, but i cannot get it to go away!
