I don't know if the system is scratching up my cd's or if they're just getting scratched on their own somehow but two of my games are freezing up now when I play them and are now unplayable. is this a disc problem or a hardware problem and how can I solve it? any suggestions would be appreciated.
I bought my xbox360 when it first came out. Im guessing you have your 360 standing up, there is a piece inside the drive that scratches the disk and ruins the game. Microsoft just extended the warranty on the 360 recently, I would send it back to get your drive replaced. However, I don't know what to tell you about your games, but they are probably ruined, I'd ask Microsoft about that too.

Check back side of disk or any scratches or dirt, wipe of game with soft damp cloth. Please know if there are too many scratches or if the scratches are too deep, then replacement is be required. If there are no scratches or dirt, try other Xbox 360 games to for sure verify that it is the game that is the problem and not the Xbox 360. If the game is at fault and the Xbox 360 can play other games, and there are no scratches or dirt, then it’s a faulty disk, and needs to be replaced. Hope this helps!
I had this problem recently. What happened was you closed the game without logging out of Playonline. The long shut down I call it. This corrupts the FFXI data on your HDD. And since FFXI does not appear in the memory you have to format your HDD and redownload. I can guarantee if you put the disc in your xbox with no HDD that it will read or even place it in an xbox with a HDD that has never had FFXI.
If you just bought it you should try to return it. Otherwise, If it is freezing in the same spot on a different console you will need to clean the disc. Here are some great instructions along with videos: http://www.wikihow.com/Fix-a-Scratched-CD
Good Luck! Let me know if you have any other problems.
cd drive error, if its an older xbox thats what it would be, either that or disk read error thing, i would suggest taking it in somewhere and have people look at it. or check the xox 360 games to see if there are any big scratches. that would be a big problem if there r scratches.
1. you move, shake or touch xbox while running or disk is iin.
solution: STOP!!!
2. The disk reader is to close to the disk.
Solution: Open up xbox,. find disk reader, take picture. Show to people at game-stop, they'll tell u what to do.
3. Xbox is broken or faulty
Solution: Get your money back and buy a new one or don't and keep buying games when the old 1 gets scratched
If your xbox is making that ring around your disc chances are you are playing your xbox standing up, if you lay the xbox down on its side this may fix the problem atleast it did for me. And as for the the midnight club freezing all the time it is still doing this on my xbox, copy the game to hard drive, and it should deffinitly limit the game from freezing, it worked for me.
