Back light problem on the gameboy advance sp

The backlight doesnt come on but the console works in every other way if the console is opened up fully the light comes on but doesnt stay on

Have similar problem. Bought GBA SP used and light didn't work, everything else works perfect. Is this repairable?

My son's Gameboy Advance SP screen is not working right.The screen looks black, but if you hold it in direct sunlight the images are just barely able to be seen. He said it was working fine, then the screen went black He turned it off and restarted it , but it was still black. My husband changed the battery, that was not it. Everything else works fine... volume, buttons, and the accesories. Does anyone know what is wrong with it & how to fix it? Thanks In advance

my sons GBA SP is in perfect function other than the backlight will not work. i have tried messing with it. and charging it lol, shaking it too but nothing... any suggestions? i mean it still works fine, like the old ones but... we like the light!

Sounds like a loose solder connection on the backlight. Your going to have to open the gba up and resolder the wires powering the backlight.

Well its because the bulit in light bulb for the SP's back light to shine is basically
burned out by now so you will just have to buy a new SP then.

Good day I have a gameboy advance the old model. I just bought it here in the philippines. the problem is its kinda dim not unlike the gameboy advance sp its has a backlight and you can see all the games...

Gameboy Advance does not have a strong back lighting like what you have said. If you wish to help you with additional light there is a accessories I bought several years ago. You can go to SM malls and go to toy kingdom section. You just need to attach it. If i'm not mistaken its only like P250.00.

Hi i have a Gameboy color and 1 advanced and they both have problems with the lcd screen it's so dark hard to se what's going on on it :) what's wrong ? can anyone help

you either play them under direct (sun) light or attach some kind of external light like a worm light for a game boy color/advance, but the light isn't evenly distributed. i have a halo light for my gb advance--better than nothing.
game boy advance sp has a front lit screen.
GameStop sells game boy advance sp for $40.

Why doesnt my gameboy sp backlight work?

If pressing of the light bulb icon does not work at relighting the screen the LEDs/back-light may have burnt out. You may have to get the system replaced.
