I was using the appliance, and all it does is show me E4. I have cleaned, dryed and everything I could think. When I turn it on it starts out okay then shows E4.
I fixed mine by elevating it 4 inches (E4) and dropping it on the counter. Something needed a little impact adjustment!
Followed your advice - worked like a charm, thanks
To many technical suggestions and none of them convinced me and/or some of the causes of the E4 error code didn't apply to my situation. I read your advice, and it seemed to me so elemental and simple that I tried and worked successfully!!!
Marymunsil, we looked at your suggestion with skepticism but thought, "What the heck". We lifted it 10 cm and gave it a gentle whack back down on the kitchen surface.
Lo and behold... it worked. Looks like some things work the same even 8 years later.
Ours is a New Wave branded cooker, not a Wolfgang Puck.
Thanks!
Ditto here. Dropped it on counter from 3-4" and VOILA! It works fine. Ours is the Power Pressure Cooker XL and showed error E4, which indicates an temperature sensor open circuit. A good bang closes it.
Mines not the same brand but tried it, works every time I get an E4 error, somewhere I read it may be the hot glue they use in manufacturing that is melting and getting into the sensor. That little jolt must loosen it up..
I had to dropped two times, first time nothing happened, so I did it again and now it is working. Thanks, I hope this is all the problem it has. :O If this one gives out, I am going back to the old fashion type. I was raised on one lol

I think it has to do with the little valve on the lid sometimes mine gets stuck closed so I move it around a bit and it seems to fix it.
There doesn't seem to be any legit way of fixing this. I tinkered with the pressure sensors and valves, kicked the pressure cooker a few times, still the E4 error presented itself.
I was able to bypass the E4 error by completely bypassing the electronics and wiring the heater coil to get power whenever the pressure cooker is plugged in. It was a very simple job, anyone with any electrical experience can do this.
The only problem is that it is a safety concern as there is no way for the heater to turn off even if pressure is getting to be way too high. There may be a pressure relief valve in the lid but the heater coil won't shut off, so don't leave it unattended! But at least this way to you can still pressure cook.

Your unit is defective. I have known several people that have this problem and they don't even know the solution at WP's customer service center. Return the unit or ask for a replacement
Before using the pressure cooker make sure the bottom of the container is dry.. I got this error then i just wiped of the bottom of the inner container.. turned off the pressure cooker then turned it on again.. it worked fine after that.. no more error
