Question about Altec Lansing M604 Computer Speakers

Altec Lansing M604- Zune is not charging while connected?

I just got these speakers as a present, I plugged my Zune in, looking forward to use this new toy but....unless im missing something the Zune is not charging. The zune was totaly dead on battery power, but when I hook it up to the speakers it still wont turn on. Power is on at the speaker, green light and all, but not a thing with the Zune. I would assume that the speakers are supposed to charge the Zune while docked? I left it plugged in, speakers on for a couple hours and still nothing with the Zune.

I had this problem also...I unplugged the power from the dock for about a minute, plugged it back in, turned it on, placed my zune in the dock and it's been working ever since. Hope this helps someone.

I had this same problem. I unplugged the power from the speaker dock, waited about a minute and plugged it back in. It seems to be working fine again.

Turns out the USB Cable needs to be plugged in to charge.

USB Cable in the rear of the device is the correct answer. Disappointing but it is probably hard wired, ie only two wires on the dock connector can be used for charging and they probably are hard wired to get their voltage from the usb cable. I would imagine this could be overcome with a better device. -- Still love mine though.

I have the same problem. I called Altec Lansing and they told me that my speakers are defective and should charge the Zune. They are sending me a new set under warranty. Normally they do not send out a new one before they receive the old one, but for this problem they volunteered to do so. I did not get this offer until the second time I called in, though. I mentioned that people were writing about this problem on the internet and she said she had two other cases of the same problem that day. If they don't send it first, they wait two weeks after they receive your old unit until they ship the new one so you will be without for a long time. Push to have them send it first.

My zune 120gb has stopped working after i connected it to external Speakers. Please tell me any way to troubleshoot it.It is now showing on Screen "CONATCT SUPPORT"

Have you tried to restart it? Sometimes that works. I'm assuming that the only reason that the Zune would say this on the front screen is if there was some hardware damaged on the inside or an error in the script. A virus in a song that was put onto the Zune could also cause this. So I'd say, plug your Zune into your computer and run a scan using whatever virus protection you have on your computer. Most scanning processes have the option of doing a customer scan in which you can scan something individual, like a Zune that's plugged in. If there is no virus, then I'd bring it to a Microsoft store or some tech support and have them fix it.

I have a new bright animated holiday train from a garage sale and I think I am missing a power cord

You should have a 3 pieces to provide power....

1. A track connector box. Looks like a "T". It slips under the track to make the track power connection. The transformer plugs into it (2 pin Molex type connector) and the command console (has an RJ11 telephone jack type connector on it)

2. A large square transformer. One end plugs into the wall and the other into the track connetor box.

3. The Command Console. Has the on/off button, forward, reverse, mute, sounds and speed contol on it .. has a connector that looks like a telephone plug.

Unfortunately... DO NOT look to New Bright for missing or non working parts. New Bright does not offer repair or replacement parts for thier products. :-( ....

Zune software won't recognize Zune when plugged in

Go to Device Manager by right-clicking on My Computer > Properties. Depending on what version of Windows you are using you will see Device Manager somewhere (might have to switch tabs).

With your Zune plugged in, you should see it under Portable Devices or Disk Drives or something similar (look under anything that could describe the Zune).

Next there are a few things you can try:

1) If the Zune is not installed (has a yellow ! next to it), right click and update driver, then tell it you want to specify where to look, and look in Program Files\Zune\Drivers\Zune\ . The file Zune.inf should be in there, that's the Zune driver.

2) If the Zune is installed, right click and select uninstall, then reinstall the driver I specified in step 1.

That should work, if it doesn't right click on the Zune in Device Manager, go to Properties and tell us if there are any error codes or if it says the device is working properly.

you need to obtain a twin ended plug that co-inncides with your new radio and the wiring loom. Once you have that it's a straight forward refit

Zune

I found the solution. what you do is you plug your zune into your usb port and your zune home page will come up automatically. as soon as your computer reads it look in the top right corner and go to settings. then go to device. finally press erase all content.

when it is done your zune should be empty but it will scroll and work once more...im not sure what is wrong but i had this same problem with my i pod and this same solution fixed that problem also.
ZUNES ARE MUCH BETTER THAN I PODS, stay zune and proud.

Zune 30 gig Brown Overheating

well?    This sounds like you have the wrong cord.  It is too short and so it gets power every now and then and then after doing this for a wile it gets over heated.  The power going into the Zune is changing so fast that it is causing the plug to burn-up inside itself!
I wound try to call about a warranty and then if that doesn't help then get a new cord!!!
