HP NX7010 constantly restarting

I have a NX7010 and have had it since new. The problem is the computer will load up and then at different times will restart. I have replaced the harddrive and reloaded all software. It will start in safe mode and appears to run OK. This constant restarting does not allow anything to be done on the computer.

My nx7010 does this as well. I have replaced hard disk and ram. It does the same whether on battery or mains power. I have reinstalled using the original disks and drivers. Could it be a hardware problem?

I had the exact same problem and managed to fix it by ensuring that i always have a usb device plugged into the notebook. A small usb flash drive seems to be doing the job... Hope this helps.

If your pc runs ok in safe mode, then i would suspect that one of the drivers are suspect, so i would go to the compaq site and update all the drivers for your system, as you may have inadvertantly installed one of the windows generic drivers when you have updated via Microsoft. go to the site below and enter your operating system and download all the drivers for your notebook and install

Just a note, having more than one anti virus programme can cause similair problems, if you only have one then ignore this comment.

Compaq nx7010 power light comes on but the system won't start. No display. Can hear CD Drive searching. No HD activity.

First confirm that it isn't just the video. Plug a external monitor in to the computer and verify it isn't just the video/screen.
  • Now that we know it isn't just the screen
Now we are going to reset the bios. and verify it isn't the battery.
  • Pull the main battery out and attempt to power with only the cord.
Still doesn't work?
  • Pull the bios battery (This requires opening the computer if you are comfortable with that)
  • remove the panel behind the keyboard covering the hinges. (may have to remove screws from the bottom first. It should snap out.
  • unscrew the keyboard 3-4 on the top and may be a few from teh bottom.
  • Lay the keyboard back without disconnecting.
  • The cmos battery should be under there. Remove and replace after about 10 minutes.
This is a generic blanket process for all laptops. Your battery may be in a different place.
  • If this doesn't cure what ails it, then take it to a repair office for a new motherboard.

Nx7010 does not start.

Hello dear, probably some BIOS values changed, causing u no displays. Try this key combination immediately after startup

esc - loads bios, but not in display
F9 - (hope its F9 in ur laptop) resets BIOS
F10 - saves BIOS to default values and exits

Or else try removing CMOS battery, its right beneath the keyboard. (Just remove 1 screw) Remove and hold for 1 minute and then reinsert and turn up laptop on. Your PC should be fine.

NP Nx7010 restarts itself.

your NP Nx7010 is always restarting. that part is having some trouble with your hard drive. or the partition which called the NTFS not function or unknown anymore to find the system inside your hard drive. let your technician ask or try to remove your hard drive and run it to another pc.

all u need to do is u need to run the diagnostic on ur laptop which will check the colour display and then restart the computer and then still if it is there check it with the different external monitor and if u get the same line in the external display also then replace the graphics card and if u do not see the lines in the external monitor then u need to replace the lcd screen.good luck take care.....
