Blue ink I have inserted a blue canon number 8 ink cartridge but because it is a 8 PC instead of just 8... printer says it doesn't recognize cartridge... how can I fix this?
Cartridge is right size etc.. just is a photo ink
I figured it out by myself...I used the old gold chip that tells the printer which color I am using off the old ink and replaced it on the new ink cartridge... worked fine so I could print!!! :-)I figured it out by myself...I used the old gold chip that tells the printer which color I am using off the old ink and replaced it on the new ink cartridge... worked fine so I could print!!! :-)

did you take the shipping tape off of the cartridge? It's usually the one covering the contacts located on the underside of the Cartridge that is inserted into the receiver of the cartridge. Other wise, you may have a bad cartridge, if so, bring it back to where you purchased it and get another one. Chris [email protected]
Canon printers and cartridges have their own chip that recognized the presence of original ink, either the ink you bought is not compatible or the printer need to be reset
Each cartridge has a electronic chip pre-porogrammed at the factory.
If it is a reputable store they will exchange for the right color as they can return the PM to Canon as defective,
If it is a genuine canon ink cartridge. You can sent it back to canon and they will replace it free shipping and charge. I had a similar problem. The y will send you troubleshooting steps first. Regards Mc
I have about 6 canon printers with a 3in 1 using PG40 and CL41. I have never encountered the problem you have. I have looked into some other sites and noticed a number if CLI-8 cartridges being replaced by Canon. I think there are only 2 probable problem areas, he cartridge or the software you are using. I suggest you call up Canon and complain about this problem. Seems like you got the printer 6 months or so ago. You should able to get to do something like replace the printer or cartridges. I'm assuming that you don't refill or have your cartridges refilled so the contact points should not be messy w/ ink. You can try cleaning the contact points on the cartridges and printer. But I'd call Canon and explain to them the situation and see if they can solve your problem. Solve I'm implying is to replace your cartridges or printer. Let me know if this helps.
I figured it out by myself...I used the old gold chip that tells the printer which color I am using off the old ink and replaced it on the new ink cartridge... worked fine so I could print!!! :-)
