My remote control doesn't work. nothing happens when i use it

Stopped working entirely about 2 weeks ago-it had been a little finicky before then, i.e. it took some extra effort of button pushing to get the channels to change, but for the most part worked fine.

i called rca customer service and did their whole thing with pressing the number 1 with the batteries out to ''reset'' the remote, unpluggin the tv, then plugging it back in, etc. nothing worked, so i bought a new one. it came today and still doesn't work. i'm guessing it's a problem with the tv now?
