You need a new battery! Only charge your psp untill full. Then disconnect the charger! If you leave it on charge constant you damage the battery! Also battery's dont last forever and a psp is not in its prime. Good luck!
This is a common issue with the PSPs --- the analog joystick assembly wears out and characters start moving by themselves. Replacing the part will fix the issue. The following website sells the part for $15 and installs it for $20 more:
Small Tidbit of info: The PSP 1st gen never came in Piano Black. Piano Black is a shiny glossy black color that started with the 2nd gen PSP. The 1st gen is more of a matte black color.
pick out your battery
again keep your battery in psp
press L and R button
turn on psp
you can see recovery menu
go to advanced otions
choose format flas 1 and reset settings
it may take many hours but donot turn off your psp
