My Delta faucet leaks and they don't sell washers for it. Single handle model.

It only seemed to leak in the hot water position...if you press down on it it REALLY leaks..The stores do not carry repair kits for them. We bought a used one like it and it seems to be not leaking for the most part. I guess my question is, why does it leak? Thanks for any hints!

Everything wears out with time. Try going straight to the manufacturer.

Testimonial: "Thank you, I think now it might be a corrosion from well water and a build up of scale. This is one of 2 faucets in that bathroom, and this one was used the least, so I guess sitting isn't good for them either."

SOURCE: Delta single handle kitchen sink faucet

Tuen the stops off unsder the sink . Remove the alaen screw from the handle. Using a spanner wrinch or a needle nosed pliers spred apart unscrew the large nut that has two slots. Lift the whole assembly out. Take assembly to the plunmbign supply and match ius the kit that youy need with has two new rubber seals and two springs and maybe a new spanner nut. It also comes with the spanner wrench  and allen wrench  needed to renstall. Tip you may be able just to tighten the spanner nut(clockwise) and stop the leak w/o rebuilding it.

SOURCE: I have a leaking Delta single handle kitchen

I may be able to help you. Some faucets are made with the option to have a base or to mount directly to the counter. The bigger washer might be the one that seals the faucet to the counter The leak out of the top of the faucet is probably caused from the plastic nut with the grooves in the top of it not being tight enough. The repair kit should have came with a tool that has a allen wrench on one end and two prongs on the other.Use the pronged end to tighten the plastic nut ,If the other parts where put in correctly this should cure your problem. If the faucet continues to leak you can get a pamplet that will give you instructions from a rep at the plumbing supply or on line in one of the sights for Delta Faucets.

SOURCE: low pressure and flow on hot water side of single handle faucet

It could be one of two problems, one simple, one serious.

  • Easy fix
  1. Turn off hot water angle stop under sink to faucet.
  2. Remove supply line from hot angle stop.
  3. Place end of supply line in a small bucket to catch some water.
  4. Turn on cold water for a couple of seconds and backflush debris from faucet.
  5. Reconnect supply line.
  6. Turn on angle stop and test
  • Complex fix
If you have steel pipes you may be experiencing reduced flow due to corrosion in your pipes. Reduced hot water pressure in the kitchen faucet is usually the first sign since this is the faucet that is most used in the home.

Repiping is a job for a professional. Another symptom you may need a repipe is orange colored or rusty water.

Fixed leaking faucet, now handles leak at the base & the water pressure is low

No, air can't get trapped in there. I don't think you did anything wrong. It sounds like the valve or internal parts are worn more than new washers take up for. Tightening down the valve just reduced travel for valve to open fully. Can't think of a fix; where's that joe da plumber?

Leaking hot water from delta single handle facuet

I have to assume you've unscrewed the face plate, not removed it, because you can't do that without taking the handle off. Delta handle usually come off by unscrewing an allen (set) screw just under the handle itself. Sometimes these are covered by a plastic plug.

Occasionally, even after you've completely removed the set screw, the handle still won't come off. Wiggling and pulling for a few minutes will generally get it off. If not, then a hacksaw, new handle and new cartridge are the answer.

If the allen screw is stripped and that's why it won't ome off, see above.

Good Luck.

Leaking Delta kitchen faucet dual handle

Pry the hot/cold button off the top of the handle. Make sure the water is turned off below the sink.

Under the button should be screws. Remove the screws. Pry the handle off. Remove the stems by lifting then out.

That should give you access to the washers you need to change.

Leakes around spout

You remove the handle after turning the water off the to faucet. Remove the retaining nut which is apart of the trim. The ball assymbly will pull right out and you will find the two little washers and springs below the ball. You can buy a rebuild kit with the new ball if you like but it is not necessary. When you do replace the washers, it might be necessary to tighen the tension ring that is on the retaining nut. Tighten it unit it doesn't leak around the ball stem.
