HD Cable Box; HD Plasma...........no picture or sound
I recently purchased a Pioneer 50 inch plasma, the PDP 5060HD. When I got home I upgraded my cable box the Scientific Atlanta.
The HDMI cable is properly connected on the cable box and the TV. The Monitor and Audio Out terminals are properly connected to my reciever and so is my DVD player.
When i turn on the TV there is no picture at all. I scroll through all the inputs and there is no signal. I checked my dvd player and a sony ps 2 in all four inputs and they work perfectly with sound and picture.
I have tried customer support at Cablevision with no luck. They claim I am recieving a digital signal. Pioneer claims the Plasma must be ok since all the inputs work. They suggested swapping the cable box for a new one and getting a new HDMI cable.
Any other ideas or suggestions? Thanks.

lenwas,
I have the exact same problem with the same model tv. It just stopped working, tv has no lights or evidence of power and the red standby light on the media center flashes without any other function potential.
I checked the internal tv fuse and it was measuring continuity.
If you figure anything out I'd be interested to hear it.

What about in the menu,,most the newer tvs have got were you can turn the speakers off,, or if there a digital dts plug on the back,, the menu could be switched to digital instead of analog,, good luck
Could be heat build up in the Plasma display unit. Make sure it has the correct space around it for proper ventilation. Also count the number of blinks on the power indicator it is a code for the reason the unit shut down. On the Pioneer PDP-5060HD I have I was getting 12 blinks on the indicator which indicated a tuner issue. Check your instruction book for info on the over heating problem if it continues. You may have a fan out.
I have the same thing with my Plasma tv
