No picture Our tv started out with faint wavy lines and went to one side having vertical lines that didn't show the picture on one side to going to a black screen with the sound remaining all along. Sometimes the picture will come back perfectly but after a short time it will again repeat this process.
the moment i turn it on pic comes out. after 2 sec lines comes out then goes black. the black pic gets smaller than the screens regular size then turns off by it self. the moment i turn it on pic comes out. after 2 sec lines comes out then goes black. the black pic gets smaller than the screens regular size then turns off by it self.

We have had the tv for about 2 years, today the screen went blank with verticle lines. The sound is working perfectly. Occasionally the picture will return but it is split with half the picture on the left side then repeated on the right side with a line down the center. If someone knows how to fix this issue I would love to have the information. Since the problem just began today I am in the initial diagnosis stage. We have had the tv for about 2 years, today the screen went blank with verticle lines. The sound is working perfectly. I hate to give you bad news but I believe this will be a panel issue and it's not going to be fixable. You can try a different tcon board but I don't think it will help
There are two reasons for this fault. A fault smoothing capacitor at the video output voltage rail, or excess of screen voltage. These lines are called 'vertical retrace lines' technically. Check this link for more details. It has a post, which have information regarding this fault. Go to older posts there.
The wavy lines are caused by the aging of the vertical deflection unit = the defective parts (some capacitors and resistors) must be replaced. The fix wont be very expensive - the parts will cost less than $25 - but you need a good electronics repair guy to do the job and this is going to cost you. Remember, it's an old tv that has started to show its age. Maybe it's time to start saving for a new one.
This could be attributed to tuning reception of your tv. If your using antenna only, it is most probable. If cable, check your line.
If this is a crt type, moving that tv with that size could somehow bend its circuit board. Loose connection is a probability. Could be some minor component is detached from solder. This can be attributed to tuner and vertical IC.
The following are supposed to be checked on the horizontal and vertical,
the supply of the sawtooth oscillator
eletrolitic capacitors near a line transformer
zener diodes
and driver transistor a round that area.
It may cure the problem but I would suspect the 9 Volt source
CHECK C2P05 100 UFD 16 V OFF PIN 3 OF IC2P01 AND
IC2P01 PART # 270P466020 (9-VOLT REGULATOR). BOTH
ARE ON THE SIGNAL PCB.
