How did the Technician determine that the fan has failed? Is there some written source that spells out that the blinking red LED Power light blinking 4 times points to fan failure?
The reason I ask is because my SONY KDS55A2000 is doing exactly as indicated in this problem. However, my Sony Extended Care Service support insists that the projection lamp is the cause for the 4X blinking LED
Power light.
I believe they are wrong, but have ordered a replacement lamp just in case. How did the Technician determine that the fan has failed? Is there some written source that spells out that the blinking red LED Power light blinking 4 times points to fan failure?

Hello,
the error light sequence that you are seeing is indicating a "backlight error". Most likely you have a bad inverter board -the board that powers up the back-lights behind the display panel. They might be available via ebay if you are a DIYer, or you need to call for sony service.
Good Luck!

Take the tv aparts, the tv power supply board that the board where the power a/c cord is plug it into it.Check the tv power supply board carefully for dying capacitors like bulging up or puffing up onto it tops.Have all the tools. Now basic electronic also can do basic soldering work too?Yes check and replace all dying capacitors.Or tries like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.
you have a bad power supply, and the tv goes to protect mode, undo the back and look for any bulged or open cap, and replace it.

The Sky+ remote should automatically default to Sony TV's. Leave the batteries out for a few minutes and try again. The Code for Sony is 0000.
Or try this :-
With TV and sky box on.
Press the 'TV' button on the remote.
Hold down the 'select' and the 'red' button (of the four coloured buttons) together, until the red light on the remote blinks twice. (takes 2 seconds)
Press the 'TV' button again.
Now enter four zeros, the red light on the remote should blink twice.
Press the 'standby' button (top right).
If the TV turns off, then press 'select' and the light should blink twice again, job done.
If the TV does not turn off then press 'TV' followed by 'standby' again.
Alternate pressing 'TV' 'Standby' until the TV turns off.
When it does, finish by pressing 'Select.
Check the red light on the remote, if it blinks 3 times, then it has run out of options for 0000.
You really should give make & model number when posting, it helps us immensely, your lamp and possibly the ballast is bad, start with a new lamp first, odds are very good that it will fix your problem, can`t help more without manufacturer and model number, good luck, ps, order the original lamp, generics are junk and a waste of your money.
