LVM-37w1 37inch LCD HDTV

I have an LVM-37w1 37inch LCD HDTV. The screen went black when we were watching DirectTV satellite, but the sound continues to play. When powering the unit back on the picture plays for 2 seconds, and fades out, but sound continues to play. Is it worth fixing? Any thoughts

It is worth fixing but you have to replace the power supply. It is a fairly common problem with the Westinghouse units.

Screen went black while watching, now ony have sound

Look at the venting grills, you should see whit lights inside the set. If not, the backlight inverter board may have gone out or the power supply supplying the power to the inverter board may have gone out. Those are the two places to look first. It may have bad capacitors in the power supply.

LVM-37w1 has no picture but sound while playing Killzone 2 video disappeared but still had sound. Switched the input to YPRB for cable box still problem.

i used to work on the warantee's for relysis from memory that was a deffo dead un we used to swap out on that fault im pretty certain its a dead processing board . . . sadly relysis uk went bust . . . .

TV screen went dark, but sound still there.

your backlight burnt out, this will be a maybe several hundred dollar repair. the screen is backilt by a very expensive flourescent light, without that light, the screen will be black.

WON'T POWER UP

I had the LCD repaired. It turns out that the power supply went out. It cost me a few hundred bucks but it was worth the repair rather than buying a new one for 3x as much.
