I have an LVM-37w1 37inch LCD HDTV. The screen went black when we were watching DirectTV satellite, but the sound continues to play. When powering the unit back on the picture plays for 2 seconds, and fades out, but sound continues to play.
Is it worth fixing? Any thoughts

I have a LG 42PM4700-UB plasma tv that just went black. The red power .... I have a RCA 32 inch it has no sound or picture !Just a light blue ...
Look at the venting grills, you should see whit lights inside the set. If not, the backlight inverter board may have gone out or the power supply supplying the power to the inverter board may have gone out. Those are the two places to look first. It may have bad capacitors in the power supply. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague
