After being unplugged for awhile during power up all lights on board light up including red one ,while red light on front flash and all goes dead . you must un plug or remove fuse to repeat these symptoms.tv has been left on for long periods of time. while powering up (plugging in)i can push the power button quickly and the lights on the main board will stay lit until power button is pressed again and its instantly off.seems like a common problem but no shops in my town will even look at it instantly dismissing it as convergence chips over the phone , suggesting purchase of new tv any help would be appreciated.
I have a similar problem. When the tv (Hitachi Ultravision -52" rear projection) is left unplugged for a period of time, the picture and sound comes back. It worked for several hours a day for a couple weeks then the picture changes to a "cigar shape" and finally the picture and sound fails. If I again leave it unplugged for a while the same happens, picture and sound for a short period...again. What could cause this and would it be easy to repair by a layman or should it be left to a professional. Would it be costly to repair? The TV is about 8 years old.I have a similar problem. Re: wont power up
If you have Hitachi model number 50UX58B, 60UX58B, 50UX58K, 60UX58K, 50SBX78B or 60SBX78B and you have the following symptoms you may want to grab a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kit that includes the parts and instructions to fix these models. This is a fairly common problem with the above model numbers. It is typically caused by a blown capacitor and pico fuse. Again, you can get a kit from the above address.
Here are the symptoms...
Primary Symptom: No Audio or Video. Power light will come on briefly then shut off. Other Possible Symptoms : The green LEDs on the circuit board light up for a few seconds then turn off.

Re: wont power up
I have seen that symptom many times. Most likely, the little blue capacitor next to the horizontal output transistor has shorted and popped the main B+ fuse. This is very common in those Hitachi projection sets. These parts should be replaced by a tech familiar with Hitachi projection sets.

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. http://electro-medical.blogspot.com/
If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
Please take this steps on how to determine the problem: 1. Open the back cover. 2.
Check the power supply output...It should have 5vdc for the main
board..12vdc or 16vdc for the audio and 24vdc for the back-light
inverter.. 3. If those 3 voltage supplies have encountered voltage drop...The problem could be on power supply board.. 4. If the power supply output is normal..The problem could be on the main board... 5.
If the problem is power supply you should check if the capacitors
are bulged on the top and try to replaced it..If you can't do that you
can purchased new power supply board.. 6. If the problem is on
main board there is no D.I.Y repair on that so you need to buy a new
main board that fits to your TV.. Hope this solution will be helpful..
my orange light is on indicating that its getting power but it wont turn on. ive left it unpluged, left of, held power button, continuesly pressing power button but it wont turn on. help me please?
This should be an error code 14. Most of the Philips TVs with this code means the Audio is the problem.
The Audio board maybe shorted out causing the TV to go into "Protection Mode". I would try unplugging the Audio board from the main power supply board and main mother board to see if the TV powers up without going into Protection Mode. That should give an answer if the Audio board is bad or not.
Right now, your TV is in " Protection Mode". A damaged part has occurred inside on one of the power supply boards. The red flashing light is a trouble code for a tech to trace the trouble circuit path.
If you have electronic experience with circuit boards, you can find a Service Manual for the TV on the internet for less than $20. This Service manual will have the schematics, red light codes, circuit diagram, and part number list you need to fix the board.
When the timer light stoped flashing the remote control would not turn on the TV. The next time the light quit flashing I held the power button in on the TV for about 5 seconds and it came on and has had no problems since then with the remote or the local TV power button.
wont turn on red light just flashes? On my samsung flat screen tv when you are watching the televison there is no red light on the power button but when you turn the television off the red light stays on all the time? what can I do to turn this light off?
