Clean it up real well and try again. Most likely the oil is from the motor being put in a position that allows the oil to run into spots that it is not supposed to be in.

you can try and remove the old gas the carburetor and perhaps the fuel filter are most likly fouled with gunk from the old gas. When gas sits, over time it forms a thick gummy deposit that can clog carburetors, and anything else. try fresh gas with some carburetor cleaner (NOT the kind in the spray can) mixed in. It may need to have the carburetor rebuilt or replaced.

Hi there I've got a 05 polaris predator 500 Tory

hi try cleaning the carb or check your air filter box might be filled with oil so all you have to do is clean the air filter out with water let it dry and soak all the oil up with a rag or sponge. Best of luck!

Backfiring won't start bought new coils still won't start and pops backfires

Do you have a carburetor? If you do, it is set too rich. Also, your timing appears off. If you do have a carburetor, adjust the setting to the left a couple of turns. This will lean out the gas mixture. If you have a fuel injector, have the system checked. The air filter could be clogged and the fuel injector could be misaligned.

A backfire is often created because the timing is off, forcing the spark plugs to fire before the pistons get to the top of its power stroke, causing the mixture to burn prematurely.

89 K5 Blazer 350 TBI cranks but won't start... the rad hose blew, i fixed it then the next day it bogged and backfired, ran fine cold, but when warmed up it would lose power and stall when trying

Have you checked Google I found this hopefully it's not your timing or it may be flooded but doubtful have you tried spraying starting fluid into the intake while cranking it

I put to much oil in the engine. Then I drained the oil, added a minimal amount and it still won't start.

How much too much? If a whole lot, may need to check the plug and with the plug out, rotate engine a few times. After putting in plug try to start. If not, check carburetor for oil. Air filter should paper element should not have oil on it.

I hope this helps.
