I have a Black and Decker electric lawn mower. It is a year or two old. Recently it takes forever to start and when it does it stalls out easily, even on the highest setting. We have never really done any maintenance on it, mostly because I don't know of any that needs to be done. I do need to get the blade sharpened, but I don't think sharpening the blade would fix something like that? Thanks!

SOURCE: BLack and decker electric lawn mower blaDE IS loose and not turn
If it's like mine (MM 875), it has a plastic "clutch" that has little edges on it that broke off when I was chopping sticks with the mower ;-) Went to the local B&D place and got a new one for less than $3.
But now I'm worrying about the nut holding the blade on -- if I try to get it good and tight, the plastic "clutch" spins around off-kilter... Funny how I never even looked at the blade after I bought the mower used, but never worried about the blade being loose and flying off.

Turn it over and clean the caked grass off, then
try it.
