I have a kenmore refrigerator and the ice maker just stopped working. It is an older one with the ice maker in the actual freezer (not in the door like the newer ones). I checked the water and it is flowing into the fridge, but no ice. I touched the bottom of the ice maker and burnt myself (blistered) - extremely hot. I just unplugged the fridge and then disconnected the electrical connection from the fridge to the ice maker. Any ideas what would cause this? Should I just replace it?
good water flow in door but still no ice ,I lowered the freezer temp to 4 degrees a couple of weeks ago it started the make smaller ice cubes then it stopped altogether. .Q-1- how to lower the shutoff arm for it to make ice or does it matter? Q-2- will unplugging the fridge overnite for 8 to 12hours recycle the system? Q-3- if none of the above work guess will buy bagged ice again...good water flow in door but still no ice ,I lowered the freezer temp to 4 degrees a couple of weeks ago it started the make smaller ice cubes then it stopped altogether. .Q-1- how to lower the shutoff arm for it to make ice or does it matter?

Checked ice maker, doesn't seem to be a problemChecked ice maker, doesn't seem to be a problem

If the ice ejector (the plastic part) is pointed down and not pointed between 10 and 3 o' clock the ice maker motor has failed or somethin is binding. Replacing the ice maker is probably the best bet.

I'm sorry that I don't have a solution, but we have the exact same problem with an older model KitchenAid side-by-side. Did you get this problem solved? If so, can you share what you did?
You actually have 2 problems here.
One the ice maker shutoff is defective. REPAIR is to replace the ice maker.
Two (snow) is a loose door seal, Outside air entering the freezer.
try manualy adding some worm water into the cuber . once the cubes refreez see if the yacualy get ejected. the ejection proces is activated when the ice maker reaches aprox -5f enshure the freezer is atual reaching these low temps as well .
if there is ice build up at the back wall of the freezer section, then you have a problem with your defrost cycle. the freezer would not be very cold for the ice maker to work.
it's either your timer, defrost heater or your bi-metal.
