Samsung PCL5415RBX TV is four years old. I want to see if I can fix the problem before having to call a repair man that is going to charge me $400+ that maybe I can fix myself. We were out of town for a week, when we got home, kids turned on TV to see a Blue Line that made an inverted crest across the screen. Anybody out there who can help me or lead me in the right direction?

Generally the manufacturer will not give warranty after the time expired.they will charge for it.but you can try by contacting their customer care and tell them about what the service man said and request for a consideration:(with old complaint no)

if they reject for a service please contact any local LCD service center they will fix your problem . authorized service center guys will change the entire board for a simple problem and they always charge a heavy coast.

its a convergence problem, unless you are experienced technician probably not a good idea to fix yourself. usually a reapair shop will charge avg 250-400 for repair

The problem is created by a small computer located in a top of refrigerator has been broken by any reason. The part is sold at $60-70 but a repair technician usually charge it around $180-200 to rip you off. It happens every 4-5 years. Jenn Air designed its location in a deep and hidden part of top fridge and even skilled consumers can't reach there. Normal repair man charges to fix the problem including labor (1-2 hours, honestly) sums up to $300-400.

The repair cost of $400 is almost big enough to go for a new fridge for most of rich people, unlike me.

Yes,the tv still good.I rather spend 300-400 dollars.Than 1100-1200 for a new one.The average tv replacement about 15 years.Using 6-7 hours a day.

common problem on samsung. bad DMD BOARD. these are modules located on light-engine. there very proud of this little jewel. usually parts cost 400-500.00 dollars for the shop. after mark-up & labor don't be shocked at 600.00-700.00 repair bill. this is of coarse for dmd replacement. 85-90%. if logic board, est. 400-500.00 repair. mch

I called the 1-800 number for Samsung and got the name of a repair man in Renton, WA. I will speak with him about the potential cost and if it is worth fixing or just let it continue to decline. I do not need your services and do not want to spend $9 to find out where the repair man was.

I finally emailed Hitachi about the blue haze and since my televison is only 16 months old they agreed to pay for the part (they didn't say what part) and I will have to pay the service charge. The repairman is coming out on 2 Apr 08. I will post results after that.

I had the same problem with my LTP227W and it is also about 4 years old. Took it in to be fixed and they found it was two capacitors in the power supply. Parts for this TV are not available anymore but they were able to repair the power supply. The TV works fine now. Hopefully I can get another four years out of this. Repair cost was $150.
