I am unable to connect a cd rom from an old pc to my new emachines because there is no "ribbon" to connect the cd to? How else can I connect it to the motherboard? The CD doesn't have a SATA...

Look on the mother board for a ribbon connector.. double row of pins.. Some boards will have a legacy connector. If not.. you can buy an adaptor to connect IDE CD to board,

BUT.. for about the same cost, you can buy a cheap new CD-DVD RW - burner.. probably with far better peformance than an old one. About $25 should do it.

Toshiba SD-R2312 Upgrade to DVD Writer

If your current device is CD-RW/DVD-ROM, then any CD-RW/DVD-RW device that you can purchase will _physically_ replace and will fit into the space occupied by your current device.

Where is the rear brake load sensing valve located and how can I unseize it

> Enlight Combo CD-RW/DVD-ROM

Remove the CD/DVD drive from your computer, and look at the "back" of it. All the connectors (power, data, audio-out) and jumpers should be immediately visible. Sometimes, it takes some vigourous "wiggling" to remove the white-coloured MOLEX power-connector from its connection to the CD/DVD drive.

Samsung SHW08A DVD±RW doesn't burn dvd+r

Its because you need a firmware update. The media you are currently using isn't recognized. I stumbled in here with the same problem. I haven't been able to find an update, so I will probably have to try a different brand of disc myself. The burner worked fine until I tried using a new pack of Verbatim discs.

Change CD R/RW

I'm pretty sure the cables for all writers/readers are the same. One thing is for sure, if they fit they will work.
