Question about Samsung HCL4715W 47" Rear Projection Television
When TV is on, the green color sometimes isnt being projected or very lightly as there is a heavy red tint. stuff that is supposed to be normally green is very dull or gray colored. Occasionally i will see a light green flash cover the whole screen and the picture will be normal again. It is intermittent and goes from normal to green not working frequently. Lots of light green flashing. Had the convergence board replaced last year. When green is out, perfect focus does not work and unable to do any green convergence from the menu. I have tested it with my DVD player hooked up and when using that it displays the same problem. Also when i watch cable through direct tv, i see the problem. I havent got to the back yet to test the connections. I was in the back a week or so prior hooking up a Wii i just bought. I had to pull out the TV only slightly to do this. Not sure if the movement or loose cables could be doing this? I was looking at the back of the TV yesterday and noticed that when the green is apparently gone, i am unable to see the green being projected at all from the back. I can see the blue and the red projectors throwing off color, but the green projector is dead. I am not sure the technical name for the part. IT looks round as is between the blue and red. I also have come to notice that if the TV is off for a while then the green works fine for a couple hours. AFter it has been on for awhile is when the green starts flickering on and off. I have tried hitting the side and moving it around and it does seem to have no affect on having the green come back on.
It sounds like the common problem with this set. It is an intermittant picture tube, or there is a loose connection on the green drive board on the green picture tube. Try lightly tapping all around on the green drive board while the set is on and see if you have any change. BUT BE VERY CAREFUL! Lots of high voltage on the board. Also use a plastic or wooden device to do the tapping. If you do great, you know you need to resolder the connections on the board or clean the CRT socket on the green drive board. If there is no change, I would bet the green CRT is on its way out. But try tapping the green drive board all over as I said before, that is a very very common fault with these types of TV sets. Good Luck

Also, for the last week now i have not experienced any adverse picture. The TV is working excellent now. I have watched 2 full length movies without the TV losing its green. The TV has been on for over 4+ hours at a time without any issue.
So i am not sure if something was just loose or something is on the fritz.
