Hi, I lost the power cord for my 2TB Simpletech Simpledrive durring a move. I found this website http://www.powerpayless.com/ac-power-adapter-for-simpletech-simple-drive-storage.html It says 12V 3.5 amps , I have a spare adaptor wich is 12V 4.amps. could this work without hurting it ?? thank you so much
I believe that you would be ok. Voltage has to be "Spot on." Amperage, however, needs to "meet or exceed." Think of Voltage as pushing something into something. Think of Amperage as pulling something out of something. It won't draw more amps than it needs, even if they are available. Allow me to thank you for including the powerpayless website as until your post I didn't know what voltage I was looking for. Exactly the same thing happened to me with my SimpleTech 1TB. Perhaps we both solved eachother's problems. PS: I'm going to check with Radio Shack for a 12v adaptor with at least 3.5 Amp capacity. They might can beat the $30.00 which is what the above mentioned place gets including shipping.

My AC adapter is fried too and I have only used this maybe a dozen times in the last year.

The output of your adapter is 12volts 1.5amps the outside terminal is negative polarity and your connector looks like this (see below)
There are two options of adapter (see below) both will work
