Pin 1 = white
Pin 2 = shield
Pin 3 = black
Pin 4 = red

This should be a typical Midland pinout. If you are using a generic 4 pin mic that is wired to cobra/Uniden, all you have to do is switch pin 1 & 2, then 3 & 4.
Not all mics are color coded the same with their wires.

This is the factory mic that came with this radio. It's kinda like a cb/walkie talkie, I had it on my belt while riding my atv and the mic came off which in turn the wheel caught it and jerked the mic out of the radio. I'm not a electical type guy so I don't know about the shield thing. All I can tell you is it has a red, white, green, black, and a copper wire with no insulation on it at all, like the copper wire on a coax cable that goes on the 102" steel whip antena.
Oh yea the plug that goes on the mic and plugs into the radio has 5 pins in it.
