Sometimes it is a seized shaft, does the blade turn by hand?
It could be the motor has failed, or the start capacitor on the motor.
It could be the electronics.

There's a safety lock built into the handle of the jug. If the jug cover doesn't key into the lock properly, the motor base won't start.

Presumably a Russell Hobbs though you did not say; the blender is obsolete and parts hard to source,furthermore given the price of comparable parts it would be cheaper to buy a new blender. I hate it when that happens.

I also needed a seal - contacted Russell Hobbs - told that product is discontinued - they do not hold stock on the seal. Great service !!

are talking the blade inside the canister if so it unscrews from the clear handle and view area. otherwise if you mean the chuck below when the canister is lifted off that is held on by a fastener right in the middle dead center

call or e-mail the manufactor and see what they say.
