My 35" trinitron tv took a power hit . Since this happened it's stuck on channel 13 with a very grainy picture . The picture and picture is perfect but will not swap pictures . If the tuner is shot , can the pic in pic tuner be swaped with it ?? Is this something I should take to the repair shop to do or might I be able to handel it myself ?? I didn't want to pull the back of the tv with out at least having an idea what I should do , or what to look for . Thanks .

First thing you should try is unplug the set for several hours. If you have the same problem, then you are going to have a system control issue and or a standby power supply issue. These problem, unless you know how these circuits work in a TV set, will need to be looked at by a trained tech. Good Luck

If this TV is connected to cable TV and you are using a cable box then the cable system is at fault. If you are connected to cable TV with no cable box then look at the pictures on other TV's in your home if you have another TV. If they look fine and are small enough to move around. Move the TV and connect it to the cable outlet where this TV is connected and then examine those channels again. If they are grainy then a call to the cable company is due. They can use a signal checker to see what the signal levels are at that outlet for any given channel range.
Try to see if you have 5volts for your EEPROM. If the voltage is normal try to replace your EEPROM or try to reprogram it. Your EEPROM is corrupted so that's why it will not store data.
Normally grainy pictures are a result of poor ground connections, although usually for more than one channel. Check the cable connections first. Otherwise all I can suggest is to have the tuner replaced.
tv wont turn on when i hit power it makes the clicking noise like it is going to turn on, but never does and the red timer light next to the power button just flashes. help! trinitron kv29f1u only clicks and blinks
Remove power from your cable set while watching DVD and see if the problem magically goes away. If that's the case, the cable box is to blame...accordianman
My friend, you need to hook up a signal source such as an antenna or cable . The channels wont come in and it will all depend on where you live and how close to a major city on what and how good you will get the stattions. then once an antennena is connected, do the auto programming again. Good Luck
