Canon D760
First, invest in a manual if possible.
I just acquired a d760 printer which is essentially having the same problem.
I don't have any experience with Canon at this point, but in HP replacing the rollers corrected the problem. Research has not indicated that there is a general failure here, so my guess is that high volume use has generally worn the rollers to the point where they no longer "grab" and move the paper along its path. If the paper misses its exit point, it has nowhere else to go but to crinkle (accordion) and pack tighter and tighter.
But to address the question, I plan to purchase a maintenance kit for mine (about $50) and perform routine maintenance on it.
