THE ARCHOS CONNECTS TO MY ROUTER BUT WILLNOT LET ME CONNECT TO ANY WWW SITES

cant browse the internet

i thought ifi reformated the hard drive it would help but it made it worse

any ideas on how to reinstall the original software

I had this problem. I set up the Archos (5) numerous times and all with the same result. I finally set up the archos as correct as I could. I then turned off the cable modem and the router. I left them for 10 minutes and turned on the cable modem then a couple of minutes after I turned on the router. I let it all settle down for 5 minutes and tried the archos again. Straight in no problem and it has been solid since.
If that doesn't help then sorry I cant help.

I had exactly the same problem and solved it myself yesterday after months of phoning/emailing Archos "customer support" - with my set up anyway it was my WEP password on my BT wireless router was wrong, I changed it on my pc to the one that was on the bottom of my hub, made sure that the exact same password was entered on my Archos and I could not believe my eyes when it worked. You need to make sure of course that all the other settings match too, IP address, Gateway and all that other stuff I dont really understand, (nor want to !) Good luck Ulstergirl

Archos 605 has 2 problems: 1: can't connect to wifi network at home. This is a netgear 614 router (which is quite old) with WEP encryption. Have tried to disable all security still no joy. Have...

the issues with the pda and wifi is most likely based on the 811 standards that each have...did you compare those two for 811 compatibility?

Hi, Unfortunatly there is no solution with your current set up, you will need a medium grade router like a draytek 2820, that can establish the vpn from itself rather than from the computer, this way the vpn is established from the router, and when your archos connects to the router it will also have access to the vpn.

How to connect wifi network in archos 28 internet tablet

This is normal. To save energy, the ARCHOS always starts up with the WiFi set to off. You must manually use the Fn-F3 keys if you want to activate the WiFi connection.
I cannot connect to the Internet over WiFi, what's wrong? Make sure that your WiFi is activated. This can be turned on and off with the blue function key pressed down and then the F3 key. The blue WiFi indicator just below the touch-pad will light indicating that it has been turned on.
My WiFi router/modem is on and working, but it does not show up in the list of wireless networks. What's wrong? It could be that the WiFi modem/router is hiding its SSID. This is done for security purposes sometimes. You can either change this on the WiFi modem/router (see its instructions) so that it broadcasts its SSID (and then you'll see it in the list on your ARCHOS 10) or you can go into the advanced settings of the Wireless Network Connection screen to the Wireless Networks tab and 'add' a new connection. You will need to know the SSID name and its other connection parameters.

How conect to internet wireless ? whit a archos 5

you can connect it via wi-fi or via bluetooth..
if you have a router near you archos will get connected with that router through wi-fi and you'll be able to go online.
if you have a 3g and bluetooth enabled phone with you pair that phone with archos via bluetooth so that archos can use phone data plan for browsing the internet.

these are the two ways by which archos will get online

Router willnot connect with the internet

I never use the disks, try the following:-

1. Turn off both the linksys and your modem
2. Turn on your and wait for the usual lights to turn solid
3. Turn on the Linksys and wait 30 secs
4. Press the button on the front to the left. It does not look like a button but flashes while it is finding an ip address
5. now connect with an Ethernet Network Cable and make sure the internet is working
6. Next Setup the Wireless Encryption, if you don't know how to do this, post and I will help
7. Disconnect the cable and Connect Wirelessly

Have you tried username 'admin' and password 'password'?
These are for the actual router.
If it's the wep/wpa wireless encryption password, then you need to go into the router's domain page, it'll be something like 192.168.0.1 (or 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.0.2) and enter admin and password, and then, usually under the Firewall menu, it'll say Reset Factory Settings. You can reset it and your wireless network should now be unsecured and you'll be able to connect to the internet wirelessly with any device.
