I have a 50 inch rca tv model m50wh185 no picture but has sound

Picture and sound went out on my 50 inch tv

what caused the inital problem was a surge of energy caused by the storm. the exact problem, i don't know but it may just be that some of the power cord(including the power cord wires on the of the TV) wires have blown

your power supply unit is going bad you dont have much longer before it goes your volume buttons picture light. screen all run through it. go to vancebaldwinelectronics.com to replace it.

Need the model number to help as I am not sure of you have a RCA or a Toshiba

I have the exact same TV and have had the exact same problem. I talked to a TV repairman who said it has to be my deflection board. I just found this out today so I am looking all over the web for a deflection board. I hope this helps! Tyson

Its sounds as if the lamp has exploded or the color wheel has. I will post a link to a site that has a trouble shooting manual on CD called RCA DLP Disc #1 which covers every DLP in the ATC line which is what your model is. They have it either in cd form or they will email it. Its a very good resource for fixing your own set.

If its a projection set it may cost more to fix than its worth, only thing I could suggust is to pull the back off it and try to figure where this sound is coming from and possibly replace that board.
