Question about NEC 42VP4 42 in. EDTV-Ready Plasma Television

1 Answer

Power Supply I have a NEC42VP4 with a dead power supply. I cannot find any service information available on this set. Are there any "stock faults" with the power supplies in these Plasmas. Thanks Jim

I have the same problem,

first poser supply lasted just over three years at 92-- foot elevation,  the next one lasted 3 months, just long enough to get past parts warranty, and NEC/local tech wants $800 to replace the power supply that took 3 months to get in before.

Nope, just bought a new HD Vizio and moved on.  Better picture and BIGGER picture.

My Toshiba TV with board number V28A00084501 stopped working. The other day I tried to turn it on, but it looks completely dead. What might be the problem?

It sounds like the problem is in the power supply board (75012667 / PE0626C / V28A00084501). There is a repair service available for this board at http://www.coppelltvrepair.com/p/749/pe0626c-toshiba-75012667-power-supply-board-repair-service-dead-tv-or-dark-flashing-display. Push power buten no picther no sound

Hello
The fault of your tV is with its power supply section. There is a power regulator board inside, which converts the AC power we give to lower DC voltages, which in turn used to supply different sections of other boards. With a dead set, it will be difficult to say which part of it has damaged. You must ahve thorough knoledge in elelctronics, and experience in servicing switching type power supplies [SMPS] boards. In most cases the power supply is replaced with an other one as card basis, becuse, most of the components it it are very difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. You can get this board, from the authorised service center for RCA at your town. If you have enough knowledge and confidence, go forward, and check the power retulator board for faulty components, and replace them if they are available. If not, get this set repaired, either by the authorised service center for RCA at your town, of by any well experienced service technician. OK.

Vizio VX37L won't turn on. The light on the front does not come on even when plugged in. I replaced the power supply unit and it is working correctly (tested power output using voltmeter). I was wondering...

Good day.

The common 3 causes of power supply breakdown.
  1. The power failure of main supply (brown-out)-Because when the power failure occurs, your ac supply is gone and when its back to normal, the first current that flows in the circuit is more higher than the normal.Specially when the power failure happens only on split seconds.
  2. Too much load-It is usually happens on the big screen like 32inches,40inches and more.Because when the TV is big the load of the unit is also higher. However it takes a long period of time to malfunction the Power supply because it is specially design to that load capacity.
  3. Heat-Too much heat can cause a malfunction of the Power supply and even some parts like Main board and inverter board.
And you can find a decent replacement of your power supply and other spare parts here in good price:
http://www.electronica-usa.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=EU&Product_Code=DPS247APB&Category_Code=
However,The stock of your Power supply is sold out now but you already have a new power supply now so its OK to wait until the stocks is available.

I hope this information will be helpful.Thank you for using FixYa.

Call the manufacture of the TV set to find out who their authorized service is in your area.

These sets are expensive to service. They are serviced by mainly board replacement. There is very little support for component level service.

The boards use high density SMD technology, and is all uPC controled using firmware.

As for your fault, you would have to determine if the power supply is in the protect mode because of a defect on another board, or if the fault is the power supply only. This is usualy done by doing board swapping to find out which boards are defective.

Some of the manufactures will sell the service manuals for their flat panel sets. Not all the schematics will always be complete. The information is mainly for how to replace the boards, and do the factory level calibrations if necessary. You will need the proper calibration and diagnostic tools to do the tests and adjustments as indicated by the service manual.

Power supply information

The fault is most likely in the power supply, or one of the other boards in the set has a fault condition that is causing the power supply to shut down. The only way to service the set is by doing board swaps to determine the defective board(s).

If you call DELL, they will tell you where to send the set for service.

Akai lct3201 ad power supply

The MLT169A is a version number issued by MegaMeet in asia who built the supply. The correct part number for the SMPS for that unit is: E7802-005008 and unfortunately they are no longer available... However, there is some good news, those supplies can usually be rebuilt but you need to have the equipment, knowledge to make the repair...
