My dad gave me his machine which worked fine the last time he used it, about a year ago, but when I went to try it, no water was coming through the machine. I followed the intructions in the manual to a tee but nothing seemed to work. The machine makes a loud noise but it seems that water is not making its way through at all.
SOURCE: Pump Problem
Our lucky fix for this identical Christmas day problem was to put the reservoir in place about half full of water, then to reach down in it and pull the plunger up to open it. We had the machine running at the time, but that may not be necessary. regards, Gene
SOURCE: My Breville800ESXL makes steam but does not make espresso.
jejones is right. try a coarser grind. it still makes great espresso, especially if you really pack a lot of ground coffee into the filter basket. Just make sure it is a bit coarser than you would normally use for machines without the dual wall filter basket.
SOURCE: A lake of water
anyone else w/ this problem: cheap workmanship = cheap, malfunctioning machine. turn it upside down, unscrew the 4 screws w/ metal washers and the six screws with out washers from the base of the housing. once removed, you can see that cheap metal clamps are used around the plastic hoses which supply water from resevoir to steamer & brewhead via the pump. either length of hose above pump or below pump has come loose or pump is fauly or there is a hole in a tube. good luck!
SOURCE: Water flows fine until we put in the Filter Holder
The grind on the coffee is too fine, try packing it lighter or setting the grind coarser.
SOURCE: water pours out from all around when making coffee
Theres a seal from the machine to the handle or porta filter its acalled a group seal it is worn or dried up solution is to replace the seal
