Computer I have just bought the above scanner. I have installed both cds. When I attempt to begin scanning, my computer tells me that it cannot find the scanner and/or make sure it is connected and switched on. I have tried and tried with no success. I was told that if I took off my other scanner it could work as XP gets confused!!! Have you any other suggestions please? Thanks

have tried it and nearly everything else including diconnecting our other scanner. It loads and is documented in device manager as being in working order. The icon at bottom right of screen shows red cross it. Looking in programs the icon is OK. So I really do not know what to do next.
Any further suggestions would be very welcome.
    Thanks

This is the dumbest solution I ever heard of

  • Anonymous Feb 14, 2009

When I first tried to install my Plustek 7200 scanner, Windows XP recognized the unit and I was able to install the soft ware. Because I was not able to find my power adapter, I ordered a replacement and uninstalled the the software, intending to reinstall everything from scratch. Now, with the proper adapter, Windows XP will not recognize the unit and I am unable to install the installation software unless it recognizes the new hardware. I have followed the Quickstart intructions to the letter to no avail. Any answers????

If the Scanner was plugged into the computer before the software was installed, the computer does not know what to make of the unknown device, (which it cannot identify). This is why it is recommended that the software is installed before connecting a camera scanner or printer. If you check in "Device manager" you may find unknown devices listed under "Other devices" if you remove these and then disconect and reconnect your scanner, it should then detect the scanner correctly.

it is possible that the scanner is trying to draw too much current from your USB ports (when connected with everything else, Have you tried a powered USB hub (one with a plug top power supply)

My scanner want scan

Re-install the software but do not connect the USB cable immediately. Begin the installation and let the software tell you when to re-connect the Usb Cable to the computer. Let it finish

Reboot computer and Windows will find it.

Or, go in control panel and click on Scanners and Cameras. You should see the Kodak icon there. Click it and scan from there. If the scanner was well installed, it should work from there as well.In Case You Still face Problem and Need Online Assistance Then Please Follow Us For On : Kodak Printer Support

I bought the Canon Canoscan N1240u flatbed scanner. I downloaded the drivers and plugged in the cord that came with it but it doesn't do anything.

Just to be sure, did you install the driver in addition to downloading it? Full software or basic driver. The software must be installed before connecting the data cable. What OS are you using? (if you have Vista 64-bit, it is not compatible) If you didn't install the software, uninstall the OS driver and disconnect the data cable before attempting to install the Canon software. Otherwise see the notes for scanning with other software.

First are you trying to use the scanner buttons? These will only work if the full software is installed. For the buttons to work, you have to set up the scanner button destinations in the Canon software first. Also a monitoring program must be running for the button presses to work.

So try scanning from the computer first. If you still get an error, try a new data cable. If you are using a USB hub, try a direct connection. Make sure your USB ports work with a known working device. You can also check if the ports are disabled for security (in the Device Manager for Windows) or power savings (an advanced setting from the Screen Saver).

Once you have scanned successfully from the computer, go to the Settings section of the Toolbox to set the default destinations for the scan buttons.

If you only installed the basic driver, you can scan with Paint (XP or Vista), File > Import from Camera or Scanner > New Scan. Vista also has Windows Fax and Scan (New Scan) and Photo Gallery to acquire scans. I don't know the Mac software. Third-party software will also work if installed.

I hope this helps.

How do i get my mustek 1200 iii ep flatbed scanner to work with windows xp. my computer restarts every time i clink on scan.

If you have the orginal software that came with your scaner and it says that it is compatible to Windows XP, you may need to use the disc to reinstall it. YOu will first need to turn off the scanner and unplug it from the PC. Then uninstall the old software from install/uninstall in your control panel. (start>control panel>install/uninstall programs, search the list for your scanner software.)

If you do not have the software or it is not for Windows XP:

There is the link to a site with a driver download specifically for your scanner, instructions on installing it for windows XP and also a link to answers to problems for your specific scanner.

http://www.mustek.com.tw/Download/driv_scanr/english/1200ub.html
.
Before you begin any download make sure your virus control software is up to date.

First click on the link "Instructions for XP installation and print it out.
Next click on a driver for XP from the chart to download it. When a window pops up click save and browse until you locate desktop. Save this file to your desktop. It will be an .exe file.
Turn off your scanner and unplug it from your PC and uninstall the oldsoftware as advised above.
Click on your new driver file to install it. Follow instructions.
Once the driver is installed, plug the scanner back into the computer and turn it on.
Restart your computer.
It should now recognize your scanner.
Try a scan.

When I open HP Scan Pro and attempt to scan a document it tells me the scanner is not found. It is plugged in by USB correctly.

The computer is looking for a "Twain" device. Although the printer is correctly installed, to scan a document or picture, you need a program to associate with the scanner and identify the "Twain" device. To do this, open up any photo software or even MS Paint. Under the File tab there should be an option to Import or Import from a device i.e. camera, scanner. This is the option you want. Select your HP Scan Pro as the Twain device and you can scan from your computer. The other way would be to open HP Imaging software package that came with the machine and configure your scanner from within the program. Either way works its just a matter of preference. Best of luck and reply back with any questions.

KODAK ESP-3 AiO Will Not Scan On Vista 64 Bit Ulitmate

I had the same problem and I got it to work. I have Windows Vista and Microsoft Office 2007 on my computer. Here's what I did...

Go to "Start" then "Control Panel".
-Click on "Programs and Features".
-Scroll down to Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 - click on that and then click on the "Change" link above.
-A box will pop up, click on "Add or Remove Features" and then click "Continue".
-Click on the "+" next to "Office Tools"
-Click on the "+" next to "Microsoft Office Document Imaging"
-Click on the down arrow next to "Scanning, OCR and Indexing..."
-Then, click on "Run from my Computer"
-Next click on "Continue" at the bottom of the dialogue box and your configuration process should begin

Once completed go to the start menu and type in "Scan" into the search box. Go to "Microsoft Office Document Scanning" Once there, plug your scanner into you computer, chose what color you want your scan to be in, and click on the picture of the scanner to the right. To make my scans clear, I had to click on "Scanner..." and chose KODAK ESP AiO as my scanner even though I have a KODAK ESP-3 printer/scanner.

I hope these instructions weren't too confusing and I hope this helps some of you out! My scanner was causing me a lot of frustration for a while!

Benq flatbed scanner error ffff;0024 will not operate or scan

Hi,
This appears to be a software or communication between scanner and computer.
go for the usual re-installation of the software program being used, i.e paperport or similar.
try removing and reinstalling the scanner itself.
unplug the unit for between 30-60 minutes, to eliminate power pack overheating issues.
unplug the comms cable ( USB or other ) and re-connect.

look on your cd (do a windows search function) for files named "...something.MSI". Right click on this file and select either the "INSTALL" or the "RUN" utility. this should force the driver install.
