Recieving hd on the samsung sp42w4hl

Is this connected to cable, sat or dsl box. If so your issue is with this external box not the tv. If the tuner in the set is used the do auto scan in setup menu.

Hi, Your TV is set for HD but you will need a set top box. (PVR) You will need a digital decoder to recieve HD or digital channels. Talk to your cable or dish companies for more info. Good luck.

It sounds to me like you need to block the channels on the converter box for freeview. The television parental control will only work if you are using basic cable hooked directly into your tv. Otherwise, all of the channel control functions are handled by the control/converter box from your service provider. HD Ready just means the tv can display HD images from an HD source.

The built-in Freeview box on your tv is not Freeview HD compatible so you'll either have to buy a separate external Freeview HD box or subscribe to an HD satellite or cable service.

In any case, most built in Freeview receivers are of barely adequate picture and reception quality. An external box is usually far better in both respects.

the cable or satellite box should also have a component input which is the red,white,red,blue and green cables.these will also provide hd quality

my samsung le32 tv is stuck on BBC 1 Mono. i cannot access the D menu or change on to any DTV channels. I am in an area that broadcasts in digital. the tv works ok if I connect a freeview box

go to menu settings, channel settings, set tv to CATV for cable, AIR for analog, or HD for high def.

Make sure you have the correct cables depending on your connection

You need to do the following:

1: use HDMI cable to connect Cable box to TV
2: Call Cable company to activate HD service
3: Enjoy!

You can use component input, but the HDMI is best HD quality!

ok your tv does not come with the very best sound, you have to get a receiver 7.1 or you can use the optical wire , that's if the system you are using has that option.
