Yes it is possible to get the product from HP(as now compaq is owned by HP). The part number of the product is 259055-001. You can ask for this product from HP by calling them at 1-800-227-8164. They may also give you a better alternative part number for the power cord. But according to me this particular part would be best for you monitor(259055-001). You can also buy this product online from hp.com. Yes in fact you can use sony pc tower to display on this monitor.

I had a Compaq FP 7020 (Carbon, Silver) 17 in. Flat Panel LCD Monitor with power green led on but no video . I tried to connect to different known good boot desktops , problem sill existed . What component...

It sounds like the screen is bad. A quick search with the model number and "LCD Screen" will show you that it would be cheaper to purchase a new monitor.

If it was the back light it would be an easier repair. But you are saying it does not come on at all so that is telling me the screen itself is bad.

Hope this helps! Please rate my answer :) Thanks!

Compaq 1720 monitor: the green light on the power supply went away, the voltage converter was very hot and the monitor went blank

You need to find out if the power supply is still putting out 12vdc, you may have to test it with a load (use 12v car bulb such as the brake lamp). It is getting hot can be due to bad power supply or too much load because of short circuits in the monitor. Please post back what you find about the power supply first.

Wont work

Please make sure to check the following: 1- Hook up a different monitor to make sure that the video card on your PC is working properly. Also set it to a low resolution
2- Ensure that the power supply cord has a good solid connection with the adapter (if you have one) and the wall outlet 3- Make sure your monitor is on (some have more than one ON button) 4- Make sure that the data cord between your computer and the monitor has a good connection
