There isn't enough pressure to pump water through the coffee

I hadn't used my Krups Type 964 Cappuccino Machine in
a couple of years, and when I recently tried to use it, the machine would apperantly not develop enough pressure to
pump the hot water through the coffee. If I removed the small coffee container, and turned the machine on, it would pump water through. Thought's or suggestions?
I'd like to be able to save the small fortune, that my loving wife spends at that fancy coffee joint!
Thanks,

Roger

Chalk in the system, let it run a couple of times with plain vinegar. just fill the machine with about half a liter (one water container) vinegar and collect the vinegar in a cup so you can reuse it. run the full 0.5 liter, wait an hour and repeat. Than run 2 full watercontainers plain water. should work again. Cheaper than antichalk fluid and works the same

Insufficient pressure to force water through coffee

Propably the vibrating water pump is the problem.
It might be full of scale and it can not create any pressure or it is completetly damage and need to be replaced.
First we sugest to perform a descaling of the machine and try again.
Second you should try to reduce by little the quantity of the grounded coffee used. Aprox you should use 7 to7.5 gr of coffee. If you try to use about 6 to 6.5 and you have the coffee runing out from the machine like in 25 sec you have about 30 cc of water. Then try to clean the group shower which it can be ansrew by one cetrer screw and if you can you can open the machine and remove to clean also the coffee group solenoid valve. Bothe the valve and shower can be full of dry coffee that can blocked the way of water coming to the grounded coffee.
If you manage to clean everything above and the machine work ok so from now on in order to avoid the problem again try to flush water from the group many times without any coffee. With this is like you wash the group shower and valve from any remai coffee.
Good luck

I have a ceceilware cappuccino machine GB5M and want to know if we can pour water in or pump it manually from a 20 litre water bottle.water line is being shut down for winter but still want to use the...

You should be able to use a booster pump like a Shurflo or other type pump, just make sure that it is not putting out more pressure than recommended by the machine manual.

Krups 453 - coffee is weak

Basing on personal experience (you can find more on Google probably), solutions are:

On percolated (filter) coffee machines:

Check water temp, if water temp is insufficient , most common is scale heating element , faulty element, faulty thermostat.
Check if water is dripping right at the center of the filter, if it is dripping on one side because the orifice is clogged, that can result in weak coffee.
Coffee blend not well distributed on filter basket.

On Espresso machines:

Check water temp, same as filter coffee machines (thermostat element, scale on heating chamber).
Ensure that coffee is filled correctly in the filter cup (fill at level), and well pressed.
Ensure that the coffee mixture that you are using is not too coarse, buy the apposite one for espresso.
Ensure that you are not leaving the machine brewing for a time that is too long, and Italian coffee cup is very small, approximately one regular shot.

On the hob moka pots (espresso, Moka and Bialetti type):

This are the trickiest ones, you need art and practice to get a good espresso with a Moka, but when you learn, the result is better than what you may get with an home electrical espresso maker.
The frame on the hob must be not too strong, and the mixture coarse but well pressed, with water at level tag, or you will get a weak coffee.
On Mokas a good strategy is keeping hob at minimum, and turning up the flame at top when coffee starts coming out.

French and turkish cafetieres:

Ensure that you put enough coffee, water hot enough, and that you left the infusion enough time to get a strong coffee.

Note: insufficient pressure and clogged lines on electric machines never give you a weak coffee, exactly the opposite.
Not pressed mixture always gives weak coffee, but too much pressed mixture may give you coffee with bad taste.
