Nothing happens when plugged into wall.....no lights no hint of any life at all .it worked one day then it didnt........has it a fuse?.....if so where is it

Fuse may be in the back of the cabinet. If the cabinet is removable, and you probably will find screws under a label or two, if you take all you can see out, and the cabinet still won't come apart, feel across any labels and see if you find a hole, which will contain a "hidden" screw, but, probably the fuse will be near the entrance to the power cord. Make sure you unplug the appliance FIRST and then remove the case screws and look for a glass fuse in a holder somewhere near or around the power cord area. If you have a multimeter, you can check to see if power is indeed coming to the system where the power cord is connected to the lugs, if so, you could possibly have a defective power switch. A little investigation (CAREFUL INVESTIGATION) will more than likely result in your finding the fuse, and or the problem.

Recording trouble

Hi again,

I understand. Must be a glitch somewhere. Anyways, I already posted possible solutions here your original posting/problem. They were:
1. Power on the Philips FW-R7, leave the left tray empty and closed. Open the tray and put in a recorded CD (not a CDR but a regular CD from your music collection), close the right tray. Wait a couple of seconds as the FW-R7 reads the CD. Now open the tray, remove the music CD and insert your CDR. The FW-R7 should read the CDR without the error message and record to the CDR from any source. Let me know if this works for you;
2. laser cleaning or realignment (would need a service center);
3. try using lower then 40X blank CDs.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Philips 60 "

A couple of suggestions:

There may be a fuse just inside the back cover that needs replacing.
OR:
Unplug the power cord for a half hour and try it again; this process will reset the power management system inside the set

Power supply

Possibilities: Transformer, reducing the input voltage to the components, or the power switch itself. Both can be checked with an Ohm meter, but first UNPLUG this unit, BEFORE attempting any repairs or testing. I know, it sounds like a lecture, but there are many who think it's unplugged and tear into it, and @*%!)${^%, they get a nasty shock! So, be safe first. Make sure the power cord plug is in your sight, both lugs are looking at you, and then proceed.

Shelf system shuts after a few minutes philips FW-R7

In power supply check capacitors ,one of them is leake or dry.Best way of detecting this cap is to have freez it (coolant) to sprey on the sections in power supply and thanindividual capacitors this will definately solve your problem.
