Question about DCS RGS-486GD Gas Kitchen Range

Open Question

Wire to grill ignitor has shorted out

When I was re-inserting the large drip pan, (and the grill was on...) the end of the drip pan caught the two wires (that I guess were "hanging down" a bit and shorted them out...lots of sparks....Thankfully, burners and two ovens still work, but grill does not. What exactly needs to be replaced? Thanks.

SOURCE: Ignitors keep firing by themselves after my aunt cleaned them 24 hours ago

If they ignitors worked properly before you aunt cleaned them, the problem could be with the way they were cleaned and what they were cleaned with. Please tell me how she cleaned them and with what. Also, had she cleaned them before without incurring any problems, or was this the first time she had cleaned them?

SOURCE: DCS Range constant sparking at all burners even when lighting one

This happens to mine if there is anything on any of the burners, such as food residue or moisture. Check all the burners to see that nothing is touching the burner area where the gas jets are. Even a little water can make this happen.

SOURCE: all 6 ranges and the large oven work well.the small oven won't li

My gas oven stopped working properly - called in the repair man and he replaced two of the three ceramic ignitors. (I have a two oven model). Apparently they only last / work well for 3-5 years. Kinda sounded crazy to me - but verified on the internet they are required to be replaced. Not sure I'd call the repair man next time - get the part yourself, one screw & two wires to replace. I'm no expert - but that solved my problem.

How to replace the ignitor battery on a DCS outdoor grill

  • Open the two cart doors on the bottom front of the grill, if your DCS model has doors.
  • Remove the drip pan under the grill by sliding it forward.
  • Locate the 9-volt battery behind the grill control panel in the compartment directly below the "Ignition" button on the front of the panel. The battery is mounted vertically to the connection plate.
  • Pull the battery straight down to disconnect and remove, using pliers if necessary.
  • Hold the new battery in position below the connection terminals so that the positive (+) post on the battery is facing inward beneath the grill. The positive post is the larger of the two posts on the top of the battery. Push straight up to connect the battery.
  • Slide the drip pan back in place and close the grill cart doors.

My ac unit is now after 3 weeks of use dripping water inwards(even with a 1/4" slope of the unit to the outside) is my drip pan overflowing?

Yes, your drip pan is overflowing, because the drain hole near the back of the unit is clogged. There are 2 ways to address this problem.

1. Look out side the house, under the unit and search carefully for the drain hole or drain tube. If it's a hole, clear it using something like a pipe leaner. It it's a tube, use 2 pipe cleaners twisted horizontally together and carefully run it up into the tubing in a push/pull motion. This will help dislodge any clogs.

2. If you're feeling really lucky, turn the unit OFF and unplug it. Straighten out a wire coat hanger leaving a little hook on one end. Remove the front cover of the AC unit and slide the coat hanger under all the mechanical parts into the drip pan. Sweep it around carefully in the drip pan. all the way to the back of the unit. Be careful not to get the little hooked end caught on anything, by keeping it flat against the drip pan. Doing this, may dislodge any clogs.

And finally, if you're in a high humidity area, increasing the tilt to 1/2" may help improve the drainage.

Hope this helps you unclog the problem.

How to remove and clean grease pan on Vermont Castings model 608SB

The drip tray is accessible from the rear of the Grill. It is necessary to lift up the pan slightly while pulling it out. Or depending on how old your VC grill is, it may be located on the left end of the grill (you should see a small handle). In which case you pull it out and was you reach the end of the drip tray, lift it up slightly to remove it.

TIP: To make clean up of the drip tray easier. Spread a thin layer of Speedy Dry (It's what NASCAR & garages use to soak up oil) on the bottom of the drip pan or tray. You can purchase a bag of it, at any auto parts store, When it comes time to clean the drip tray or pan. Just remove the tray or pan and dump the used Speedy Dry in the garbage. Then, spread a thin layer in it again. Actually, because the Speedy Dry absorbs so well, you'll find that you'll only have to dump the tray or pan occasionally.

Hope this helped you and Happy Grilling!!

I have all new burner element, starter and thermometer,,,because I had a MAJOR fire from deteriorating fire unit Now I used grill to rotisserie a chicken, cleaned everything and when using it to grill...

When you cooked the chicken on the rotisserie, did you remove the cooking grates and place a disposable drip pan on the flame tamers below the chicken? This will prevent the grease from dripping down into the bottom of the grill when you use the rotisserie. The bottom of the unit needs to be kept clean so the grease will run to the drip pan and not get caught in the bottom of the unit. When you are done cooking, if you will close the lid and turn the grill on high for 10 to 15 minutes it will help to burn off any grease build up and prevent fires in the future.

The drip pan in my Blue Ember grill has rusted. The model number FG50069. My understanding is this is a recalled part. I've tried calling the 800-396-3838 number a few times but remained on hold for a...

Unfortunately, you may have to put your grilling on hold, for a bit. The drip pan is considered a body part and is not stocked by any of the independent grill parts stores. They only stock the internal workings of the grill, from burners to valves, to cooking grates, ignitors, etc.

Currently, Fiesta's website is down for construction. But, when comes back up, you can probably order the drip pan online, rather than get a free one, due to the safety recall.

How to replace a cooktop drip pan

It's really simple. Remove the burner grates, removed the old drip pans, then drop in the new drip pans. You can order a new drip pan from partselect.com if you don't have one yet. Let me know how this works out and if you need any further help.

I have a new Masterbuilt electric smokehouse, ser. # 20070106 I have misplaced my manual. I need to know what the extra parts I got with it is for. There is a long near black pan, A metal square pan with...

Look on the back of the smoker and you will see 2 clips near the bottom under the drip tube. The long black pan has tabs that clide into the clips. This catches drippings from the xmoker. The metal square pan is the drip tray that goes in the bottom and the oval pan is the water pan that slides in the smoker right above the chip box.

the push ignitor should have a spade attachment on it for the side burner wire and the main wire end should be round and will push into the end of the ignitor.
