Kolpak - Polarpak - door left open all night, might be broken

One of my employee left the freezer cracked open last night and when I came this morning, everything inside the freezer froze and the temperature keeps rising. Do I need to shut off the machine and let everything defrost then turn it back on? How would I fix this problem?

The freezer may need extra defrosting. If you can spare the space and have somewhere else to store your product turn it off for 1.5 days. Turn it back on and see if temp drops better. If it does not you may want to call out a service company.

Check to see if the evaporator coil is frozen up, if so you can defrost with hot water.be sure to turn power off and not spray directly into fans.

Do the freezer latches have heaters ? my latch is icing up

There is a Mullion heater designed for that Kolpak that's actually installed inside the inside face on the door jamb. Kolpak may be willing to give you pointers but its best to let your refrigeration tech check it out. If its shorted you might be grabbing a door with 115 volts on it. Usually water from melted ice gets inside there and causes the heater to fail and short to ground. Hope this helps and good luck.

1999 kolpak walkin freezer not staying cold

Is the compressor cycling on and off? Is there any oil around fittings at components? Gas is the last thing you put in a refrigeration system. You need to find the leak before you put any more gas in the system. Hope this helps good luck.

Hi,

With the door left open moisture would get into the unit behind the walls and into the duct work. The only way to fix this right is to unload it and let it unthaw for a day or so open. Once it is all defrosted and restarted it should be fine again.
