Power cables loses wireless connection on Acer Aspire 5100

Up until Monday, I had no problems with the wireless connection, whether the laptop was powered to the electricity socket or not. I have discovered today that when the laptop is not connected via to the power cable the wireless connection works fine, however as soon as I connect the power cable the wireless connection is lost. I've tried powering down the laptop, connecting the power cable and then turning it back on, but to no avail. Any ideas?

Hi,

please check your power configuration profile under control panel.
the device might be disabled when the power input is on.

If you are using, Acer's e-manager then you can confirm there as well if the device is disabled under Power on mode.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.

Does my Acer Aspire 5100 laptop have a fuse?

No. Power would be prevented by a bad outlet, power strip not on, faulty or mis-connected power cord, bad connection between the tip and inlet of the power cord, a bad power inlet, or a faulty motherboard. Independently testing each of these until you narrow it down is really the best/only way to figure out the problem.

Acer aspire 5100 BL51 windows 7 wireless driver

You will have to navigate this site; enter 'notebook', 'Aspire', and scroll to 5100; after that, you will have to choose 32 bit or 64 bit. That being said, Acer does not support Windows 7 yet-you can try the Vista drivers; more often than not they will work. One note-I cannot tell just from the info you supplied whether you have the Atheros or Broadcom chip-You should be able to determine that in Device Manager.

Hi the router has not picked up your IP address.follow this Turn off your wireless router and internet connection and your laptop aswell for 30secs .Then first turn on your internet (if seperate from the router) if not switch on the wireless router/internet hub and wait untill the lights stop flashing then switch on your laptop and that should work.

Losing Wireless Connectivety, when charging.

Try to plug in the power cable alone, do it without the battery and see if your wireless works.  If your wireless works without the battery, and works with the cable alone it may be a battery conductivity problem.
