How do I change my DL-524 from unsecure to secure connection?

Bobcat DI-524 Status light does not come on.

I think the firmware get corrupted.
You will need to download and restore a new firmware.

Wireless drops off after 30 minutes, comes back with reset, then drops off in 25 minutes, and so on. wired internet ok.

This is a problem with the firmware of your router since the wired part is working fine, to correct one you need to do a firmware upgrade on the router you can get the latest firmware from Dlink web site.........

You should be able to download the software/driver package as well as manual from the DLink website. Just click on the Support link and lookup the model # of your router. You will need to know which operating system you are running in order to download the correct package. Once downloaded you can install by following the onscreen directions. Hope this helps.

You stated "The SSID is not being broadcasted either." Turn on your SSID broadcast so your computer can see the network and reconnect back to it.

Why is my modem not recognised by vista ???

HI

Please confirm that your Dlink Di 524 firmware is upgraded. With Vista the firmware update resolves the issue.

use this to update teh firmware. its shows instructions on how to to do that.

DI-524 status led not blinking

Here are the instructions

Make sure that you have a copy of the latest firmware and it has an *.exe file with it. Because the router's configuration page won't be available, you'll be needing the exe to some sort of force the firmware upgrade procedure.
Unplug everything attached to your router except the power cable and LAN cable connected to your pc.
Configure your TCP/IP with this info: IP:192.168.123.253, Default mask:255.255.255.0, Default Gateway:192.168.123.254 and DNS Server:192.168.123.254 (Use only 1 DNS server). Save this new configuration and reboot your pc.
Unplug the power cable to your router as the pc reboots. When everything is up and running, plug the power cable. The status led will be flashing like crazy. It's normal.
Use the exe file to upgrade your firmware. Make sure that the utility file (exe file) is able to recognize your router or else you won't be able to do a firmware upgrade. Now this may take a while, keep pressing the Refresh button to recognize your router. Once recognized you would see there 192.168.0.1 crash. Once you have this, you can now press the upgrade button.
Wait for a while until the unit finishes the upgrade and once done, I think you have recovered the life of your router from the pits of hell. Hahahaha.
You can now unplug the power of the router and restart your pc, see if everything is doing fine.

Go to the following website to download the firmware update for the DL-524. This will save the firmware update to your harddrive:

http://www.dlink.com.au/tech/Download/download.aspx?product=DI-524&revision=REV_B&filetype=Firmware

1. Open the web browser
2. Type in the IP address of the DL-524 router.
3. Type admin in the user name field
4. Type the password you set on this device
5. Click on the Tools tab
6. Click the browse button and locate the firmware file you downloaded and saved to your hard drive.
7. Click the apply button to complete the firmware upgrade.
