I need help wiring a Scosche SA-500 amp

Hello, My son bought a used Scosche SA550 amp with no instruction book. Can you tell me how to wire this amp?? We have a JVC stereo with the outputs already wired in the back ( RCA jacks ) So I am guessing we need the cables from the Stereo to the amp. The amp has 12V+ and gound, what is the remote for?? is there a good way to test this amp to see if it works before doing the entire install?? Is there any place I can get a manual for this amp??

OK, you run the RCA's from the stereo to the amp. The black is ground and you want this as short as possible. where you mount the amp the ground wire should be no longer then 2 or 3 feet. red is power that you run to the positive post of the battery. you will want to buy a fuse block to this. if there is a power surge this will stop your car from catching on fire(hopefully). lastly should be your constant, this is a blue wire from your radio to your amp. this tell the amp when the radio turns on and off, with out this your amp will stay on and kill the battery. i would recommend buying a amp install kit, their around 35-250 bucks, but they come with every wire you need to install the amp. Hope this helps. you should be able to get a manual on line i would think.

Your going to need to hook up everything like you would in the car to test. It would seem to me the cost of the amp hook up kit is worth it, one because you want to test this, second it sounds like no matter what your going to install a amp in the car. I would just install the amp kit from the batter back and then hook up the amp with the extra wire left(before you trim to fit after install) and see if the amp works and if not your still done for the one you do install. Safety note -- if you do hook up and dont use this amp, remove the fuze from the power side wire and make sure you wrap the blue constant power from the radio up. this has a small amount of voltage in the blue wire but if it grounds it will blow your stereo fuse.

Can’t get kenwood kac-7251to turn on anymore.

Is the signal going to the Scosche from the factory HU or a factory amplifier. If from amplifier you will need something like the Audio Control LC-2i that can handle amplified inputs. You may have done damage to the input side of the amp or the LED circuits.

I have a scosche sa550 my overload light kept coming on then the amp switched to thermal mode. bigger gage wire running from my amp too my sub and yet it still does it what do u think the problem is?

The gauge of the wire isn't going to change anything in the amp. One or more of these is causing the amp to protect itself:
1. The sub has too low an impedance.
2. You're playing louder than the amp was designed for
3. One or more of your subs has a short in it.

Scosche SCDBTA60A when hooked up to the wiring in my truck will not power on the head come on when first plugged in and then shuts off

Believe me that is only the start of your problems, the unit is one of the most disappointing things I have ever bought, it doesn't work using a memory stick either using the buttons or the app it needs a complete rewrite of both firmware and software and Scosche tell me they are not rewriting either so tough luck!! Check other forums for other opinions but whatever you do don't buy it.

Hey i have a scosche in-line fuse block i purchased. I haven't had any problems until recently. My fuse fried. So i bought more and went to replace it and every fuse i try instantly fries. i cant seem

Most likely the amplifier you have hooked up to that fuse position is defective and causing the fuse to blow. Or you have a short in the powerline somewhere. Disconnect the power wire from the amplifier, tape up the end so it won't short out to anything. Replace the fuse, if it doesn't blow then you will need to get the amp checked, if it does blow, then you have a short somewhere along your power wire.

Hi bought jbl gto 937 speakers, next week going to buy a 200 rms amp for them but here is a problem, have no idea what wiring kit should i need. There are loads to choose from but need some help on choosing...

Hello a_vital84,

You can safely use 8 gauge power and ground up to about 400-500 watts RMS. Actually, for the current your amp will draw, even at maximum power, a 10 gauge would suffice. But the difference in price is so minimal that it makes no sense to buy a 10 gauge wiring kit. Who knows, you may decide that the amp doesn't provide enough power and want to go to a bigger one, in which case you'll already have the proper size wire pulled. Just select a brand name kit that includes ring terminals, fuse, and RCA input cables. The most economical are Metra and Scosche. Streetwires (by MTX) and Monster Cable are more expensive. And some branded Rockford-Fosgate or Kicker will cost you the most. But they will be the very best kits with oxygen free copper and all of the needed installation hardware. You can see a variety of amp wiring kits at www.crutchfield.com or www.sonicelectronix.com. Either online store is a good place to buy from also. The Crutchfield site also has loads of good information that is well worth your browsing time.

Hope this helps.

Need wiring instructions for vbx12a

You will need the following:
A power wire (preferably 4 or 8 gauge) with an inline fuse (typically 50amps)
A battery terminal adapter to connect the power wire
A signal wire to let the amp know when the stereo is on
RCA audio cables to connect the amplifier to your stereo
A ground wire for the amplifier (again 4 or 8 gauge preferred)

Walmart sells a Scosche kit that has all of the wiring as well as a basic diagram for about $25, but it does not include the battery terminal adapter.

If you have a factory stereo you won't have RCA ouputs, so you will need a line level converter. A basic one like the Scosche SLC4 usually runs in the $20 range. You splice into your speaker wires and run them into the unit, then plug the RCAs into it.
