Have had no problems with the TV then the Standby / Timer light came on and there is no picture on the TV. The sound works but there is no picture.
Hi I have the same problem tv sound comes on but I have no picture :( I have tryed resetting using the up arrow and power button but when I do this the Sony symbol apears then goes back off :(

There are a series of cap and transistors that need to be changed, so if you are not familiar with soldering and component replacement then you may have to have someone do this for you.

In which section you are talking about? where are these series cap. and tr.?

tried to turn tv on but no picture and red timer standby light is blinking,
have not tried to do anyting yet, dont' know what the problem is and
what to do.
Same problem - came out of nowhere. TV was fine, I glanced away, and when I looked back, the picture was gone. Sound is still fine. I turned tv off and back on again, and picture came up for about 2 seconds, then went black again. Now, no picture at all when turning it on, but standby/timer LED blinks when I turn the set on.
My 32" Sony is only two years old and it has the same problem. The timer led blinks 4 times then goes off and repeats the same pattern over and over and the tv never turns on, no video no sound. Please tell me what components i need to change because I am an electronic technician. There is a small board with a power transistor with heat sink and two electrolytic capacitors on it, is this part of the power board. There is also a small metal case that looks llike a power supply with a large heat sink on the top of it, could this be the bad part? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have a sony trinitron MDL.kv35s66 . After pushing power button i get a click (like tv turning on) but only get flashing red standby/timer light.
