It will not work. You have to re-install (clean install) the system, the reason is, the Restore disk sets include the exact MBR and CBR as they were there in the Host drive, you cannot use the same restoration to a different hard drive, it will rarely work.

Restoring from the Acer Aspire System Recovery partition is easy Most Aspires will have a second partition that can be used to restore if you do not have CD It is recommended that you make those CD when you first buy the laptop If you don t you run the risk of not being able to install Windows again if that second partition fails Restoring From The Acer Aspire System Recovery Partition Keep in mind that running the recovery will restore the computer to the way it was when you first brought it home Anything you added will be lost so make sure you have program disks passwords favorite websites photos, documents and anything else you need backed up before proceeding with the recovery of your Acer Aspire.Hard Disk Recovery should be enabled by default If it is not you may need to go into your system s BIOS by hitting F2 at boot and enable it under the Advanced tab Once Hard Disk Recovery is enabled, restart the system and hit ALT F10 This will begin restoring from the Aspire system recovery partition. You will be prompted to type six zeros as a security step Type 000000 to proceed You will then see a screen to select your Operating System. Do this and hit enter and the recovery process will begin You Cannot Use The Acer Aspire System Recovery Partition The process for restoring from the Acer Aspire System Recovery partition is similar with all major brand names The most important thing to remember is to always have backups of your data and take a few minutes to burn recovery DVDs using Acer s built in utility. Creating these backup DVD is vital If the hard drive fails you will not be able to perform a recovery from the Acer Aspire system recovery partition Create the media and store it in a safe place along with the rest of your software and computer documentation
Hi you should be able to do the following, if not you will need an external CD drive & recovery disk.
1. Consider what data you still need from your Acer Aspire One's hard drive. Save the files to an external USB device.
2. Restart the Acer Aspire One's operating system. Wait for the Acer logo to appear on the LCD screen.
3. Press the "Alt" and "F10" keys at the same time to bring up the recovery menu. Press "Enter."
4. Click "Next." Follow the prompts that appear on the screen to restore the operating system back to factory settings.
5. Use the drop-down boxes to select the time zone and language information for your Acer Aspire One. Restart the netbook when you are prompted to finish restoring the computer.
6. Connect the external USB device to your Acer Aspire One and transfer the data you saved earlier back to the netbook.
Warning: It is possible to delete the hard drive partition that has the recovery tool.
If your Acer Aspire One no longer has the recovery partition, you will need to acquire an external USB DVD drive and then contact Acer for a recovery DVD. Connect the USB drive to the netbook's USB port and then insert the recovery DVD in the drive.
You need a 2.5" 150 Gigabyte drive; however, those laptops are prone to a short in the serial connection from the motherboard. This is an almost impossible task for an novice user to change a motherboard and the cost is not worth it. I installed a new hard drive and although the laptop recognized it, it still will not recognize it and load the operating system. Tested drive on another laptop and it works flawless. The hard drive became bad from the short which you can sometimes hit the bottom of the unit and make it work long enough to backup the data.
it is quite a common problem with acer when they age. If youve replaced all the recommended parts and its still failing, then my only suggestion would be to try to boot it up, and press alt and F10 (THIS WILL WIPE ALL INFORMATION ON THE ACER) so if you have files programms ets that you need they would be lost. Alt F10 Instructs the acer system to Factory reset. If you do this, it will go back to factory standard, so it will go through the origional set up like it did when it was first purchased and you will need to spend some time doing all your windows updates once the install has completed.
Unmountable boot volume is Hard Disk Partition lost. There are two partition on hard disk, one is NTFS & FAT32, if this two partition are damage or lost, then you have lost your data also. Reformat on it are the best way result and put new windows system.
You can recover your pictures after reformat by using a program RECOVERMYFILES, this program even when your windows system got reformatted can recover all of it.
If your laptop is working correctly, then just insert the CD, and copy files from the CD onto the hard-drive.
If you created "system-restore" CDs, they can be used only to "restore" the factory-setup on the SAME computer, not a different computer, i.e., your laptop.
If you created your system restore CDs when you purchased the system, insert your first CD into the CD drive and boot your computer. This will restore your computer to factory settings. ALL DATA WILL BE LOST.
I got it to work by deleting all the partitions on my drive (I first loaded xp, loaded system commander 9, and used that to delete all the partitions.)
Then while booting from the recovery cd, holding down alt-f10, the recovery dialog said it was partitioning the drive. (I didn't see this before, even if I partitioned the drive like it came from the factory.)
ok well first iv had nothing but bad luck with them. i think you would need to buy a new copy of windows xp, u can choose the version. you cant get your factory settings back with all the programs that acer gives you when you buy your pc, unless they send you a new hard drive. the restore cds i think with acer word from that specific restore partition on the hard drive. and with most pcs from i think 2002 and up have the F11 option with the restore partition to reset and restore your computer. when they erased your hard drive, they erased every little bit of data that was on it. me personally can restore all, if not some of the information and personal data you have. please email me the model # serial # and as much else info you can provide of your computer. and i will do as much as i can to help. if you have any more questions, please email me at [email protected]
I did that and a screen come up ask if i wanted to start windows normanally i click on that it goes to checking file system it completed 100% no problem then it goes to a blue screen with a problem have been that all i can read before it restarts on it own and does it all over again
