Question about Zenith B25A11Z 25" TV

No colour on television

I have no colour on my standard panasonic television. I am not sure if the problem is the aerial or the tv. It has lines across the screen and is in black and white but will play in colour with a perfect picture on the dvd player. Please help :-)

Hello, i tried the aerial and still no luck. I am still confused. The problem first occurred when i plugged in the Playstation (which had been used hundreds of times before) as soon as i switched it to the AV channel the colour went to black and white. However, i am still not sure if it is the standard aerial as you do not need an aerial to view picture on Playstation and when aerial is removed picture remains the same the only proper picture is on DVD. Does this make any sense? :-)

Hello, sorry if i have given the impression that the picture is ok on normal TV. The picture is black and white with lines on both the TV channel and the AV Playstation screens. It is only in colour on the DVD but as i was watching a DVD last night i noticed that the lines were starting to appear ever so slightly in the picture but it still remains in colour. Is this just a case of a broken TV on its last legs? PS thanks so much for sticking with this by the way you've been a great help! :-)

Hi, It is possible that the reason for the black & white as well as lines across the screen is weak, defective or wrong oriented antenna. If you are hooked up to cable, then it should not be a problem as you can call for service; if on the other hand you are using aerial antenna, you can try to: reorient or adjust the direction to where the antenna is pointed until the reception improves, check the lead in wire (cable or flat) for any breaks or shorts or loose connection, check/clean the connection of the antenna elements to the cable/flat wire, replace your aerial/cable as may be deemed fit and needed. A couple of questions pls if the above does not solve your problem: when receiving from aerial, is the picture full vertically? are you also having problem with sound? If yes, where was the TV bought and where is it being used now? If no, is the image snowy and some channels/stations are better than the others? Good luck and pls post back how things turn up or further information. kind regards.

    Hi again,
Based on your recent post/description, I have to agree that when using your PlayStation you do not need an aerial and if you can watch regular TV with color then nothing is wrong with your aerial.
As I understand it now, the color is gone only when in AV mode which is actually the PlayStation. Two possibilities:
    1. The cable which connects your PlayStation to the A/V input of your TV. These should be something like yellow, red & white (sometimes its black). Normally it is the yellow that is used for video. You can try wiggling it a bit both on the PS side and that of the TV while watching to see if the wiggling affects the display (color or no change). You can also temporarily replace the yellow with either the red or white on both the PS and TV side and see if it works, if it does then the problem is your RCA cable as it is called;
    2. You may have to have your PS checked or backtrack any settings that have changed.
Experience wise the first seems the most possible problem.
Hope this works for you and pls post back results that we can figure something else. Cheers.

    Hi,
Apparently, all sources (aerial TV, AV PlayStation, DVD) show the same problem in varying degrees. It would only indicate that the Zenith (being the common factor) is at fault.
This would involve fault diagnosis and defect isolation/repair. You have to be familiar with component level repair involving circuit analysis, soldering/desoldering, use of a VOM and availability and knowledge of schematic diagram. Perhaps your best bet is to have a qualified TV professional have a look at it and give you a quote. This would help you decide if it is economically reasonable to have it repaired or purchase a replacement unit.

Why I have a thin line across the screen in my TV model Panasonic TC 21. After replacing the vertical IC the horizontal line across the screen reduced to few inches and not as it was earlier. vertica

First, You should to replace by original part, then you should check the voltages on power supply, and check the voltage for vertical IC based on datasheet, also check the voltages on vertical section including yoke and last you should check the ESR capacitors on vertical section.

as far as I am aware, you need a standard analogue aerial to receive Freeview, not a dish. The aerial plugs into set top box, which is connected to tv by scart. Freeview is different from Freesat

How do you hook up an antenna to a tv?

Optimum reception of colour requires a good signal and will generally mean that an outdoor aerial must be used. The exact type and positioning of the aerial will depend upon your particular area. Your dealer or service personnel can best advise you on which aerial to use in your area. before connecting the aerial cable be sure to turn off all main power switches. in the media recorder you will see an aerial connector one is the input and the other one is the output. your input is the antena and the output goes directly to your tv aerial input.

Guide to setting the channels

Hi Chet, At most that I can give you is a generic procedure but should work also in your unit other than the names/terms would probably be a tad different. Using your remote, press menu, select setup. You may have to select whether you are using cable or aerial. Aerial antenna could be name Air or Std. Normally there would be a search function or add channels or memory + or something like that. Am not sure but you may have a save butoon also but not always. Hope this gives you some idea. Pls post back how things are or if you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.
