SMEG FA550X I recently purchased a SMEG FA550X two days later my house was hit by a flash flood and the fridge freezer was submerged in 3ft of water for some hours, I have dried the appliance and plugged it in, the compressor seems to be trying to pump after a few minutes alarms ring, is there any way i can maybe free up the pump could it be simply in need of a bit of lube? any help at all would be greatly appreciated. regards Matt

Its not possible for water to get in your pump, its a sealed unit, and runs in oil/gas mixture I would look for water in any motor relays, and wiring junction boxes.

It could be many things. Flashing 48 is 48'F signifying it is over temperature threshold.

Could be a gas leak, defrost timer, compressor fan, condenser fins blocked, or thermostat. It is a Smeg, so you need a Service Call.

try pulling out the fridge very slowly, any signs of hard resistance than stop. there should be a main water shut off back there. if still uncomfortable with this you can always shut the main water off to the house before trying. hope this helps.

Your Ice maker may be the cause. if it is not holding water the water may be landing on the bottom and freezing, causing the ice build up and obstructing the air transfer from the freezer to the refrigerator. You can remove or replace your Ice maker. Then you will have to defrost your freezer to get everything back to normal.

Check the damper between the fridge and freezer. It may be broken or frozen open. If this happens and you have a water reservoir in the fridge then it could freeze and crack - leak and then flood your house... Shut off the water supply until you get the problem fixed.
