I solved this problem once by opening the unit and adding a rubber spacer that exerts pressure on the ribbon cable. I cut the spacer myself from a neoprene-like spongy material. This fix worked for approximately 5 years. The problem is slowly re-emerging and I might have to do it again soon.
You apparently have combined my radio problem with someone else's problem with a humidity device or something. My problem with the radio was solved very nicely, and I have the receipt for the payment.
